What to do with all these damn books

Discussion in 'BG2: Shadows of Amn (Classic)' started by DragonSlayer21, Jun 18, 2001.

  1. Everywhere in Bg and Bg2 there are these books and texts. Is there a special purpose for why they are there or is it just reading for the specially interested.

    Books you found in BG2?

Sell them or dump them (except a few quests related ones).

Most of them are just background. In BG1 I think there were a couple of quests that required a particular book (in IWD also). For example, to get into Candlekeep. In BG1 there are also some books that you can use to increase your stats.

I also seem to remeber that some of the books in BG and IWD had infomation that gives background information relevant (but not crucial to) the plot. BG2 has some books that gives hints on how to solve some of the quests. See below. However, most of them can just be dropped, stored or (maybe, never bothered) sold.

****SPOILER**** just in case anyone thinks I'm going mad with 'BG2 has some books that gives hints on how to solve some of the quests' I was thinking of the Vampire books in Bodhi's lair that explian how to cure any of your party from vampirism.

[IMG] A few books are involved in the game.

An example is the vampiric texts which you may discover at an opportune moment.
Another is the purchase of a specific book to (sort of) initiate an evil quest.

    Mostly they're for background though.

There is a certain book that you purchase from a certain merchant to help prove you are who you really aren't. :) It's not really the start of a quest, more of the middle of the quest to create the armor made from human flesh.

That quest requires you to get blood from a Silver Dragon. This means killing the nice Lawful Good one in Underdark. Not a good idea.

  10. How good is this armor made of human flesh, anyone ever completed this quest?

    Is it worth the trouble...

In my opinion it sucks, it's a leather armor with not so good AC, the only good thing is a +4 to saving throws, but the AC is really not good, AND you get less XP from killing her than helping her. Neither do you get the crossbow from killing her.

besides all that, she's a real bitch to fight, probably the hardest of the dragons

Tjhere is agreat deal of variety of bolts. Almost the same number as arrows. And the bolts of biting are much better.

Bolts of biting are excellent. In BG1 I was killing flesh golems with one shot by hitting them, then running away and waiting for them to die. hehe...big dumb golems.

[IMG] Heh, I did that too. I also collected little things like Wyvern heads (you can to summon one to get its head), I also collected lots of things which I didn't know how to use, or didn't have to use.
