POLL: Would you mind your girlfriend/fiancee/wife being a scantily clad booth babe?

Honestly, I don't think it would bother me. If it did, I'm sure I'd be single again fairly soon.

If I was in a committed relationship (ie: we weren't just ****-buddies), then I would be secure enough to not worry. If it was just about sex, then of course I wouldn't care, simply because that is all it would be to me.

Same deal if she was a stripper - if I know that at the end of the day, she chooses to be with me, that's all that really matters. Actually, most guys I know would be jealous as hell of someone whose partner was a "scantily-clad booth babe"... especially if they were married to them. Longer-term I might have reservations about it, though.

I think I would baulk if she was or wanted to be a prostitute, but otherwise I can't see it as an issue. If she was being treated badly, I would try to convince her to do something else and support her decisions, irrespective of whether I'd do it or not (although I would voice my concerns).

There is a definite distinction between dressing to look nice and dressing to be sexually provocative. There is also a definite distinction between taking pleasure in beauty and being sexually aroused. Although you can't judge what will arouse people, you can certainly judge what is intended to arouse.

Well, if I had a scantily clad booth babe like in the usual computer games as my g/f that would (a) be cool, and (b) no problem as she could probably cast spells or use violence virtuously so that she could deal with bad guys digging her admirably, probably protect me, too. And (c) if you truly love her her dress doesn't matter ...

Well, I don't know. I think there is a good chance you might just die a virgin chevalier  I think you are going to have some serious difficulty finding a girl that feels the same way about sex and whatnot.

This is the major point with me too. I answered "no" to the poll, because I am married, and so I interpreted the question of would I have a problem with my wife doing this, and I admit that I would. Ten years ago when I was dating, I would think dating such a woman would be the best thing that ever happened to me. I agree that most men are less selective about whom they would have sex with than with selecting a wife.

Yeah, I agree with Chandos (someone take a screenshot). I would probably spend some time discerning her reasons and motives, but nothing serious would follow if she liked the job. I would have to see that she doesn't like it and that she realises it's wrong. Or at least something she shouldn't do.

Well, if she were a swimsuit model... people have different views and different reasons for things. Also, there are jobs in which scanty clothing is not intended or otherwise not central to it. But in this example, it's all about showing off breasts and pelvic sector as naked as you can get without being arrested.

    @Sarevok: That's quite likely.

That depends. It is more likely that she would dump me for my religious beliefs rather than me dunping her for her job.

I still expect that she would seek a different job somewhere along the line. I doubt that her central motive to the job would be to show off her body. That attitude is something of a turn off. If they put the emphasis on their body, then what are they showing of who they are?

It all still depends on her personality and the strength of your relationship. If everything else about her was perfect and you trusted her completely, I would still have no problem with her being a scantily clad model.

Sorry Sarevok -- you're off-base with Chev. The commitment is quite admirable. I know A LOT of women who share the same view as Chev.

That said, I personally would have no problem with it. As HB said it's all about trust. If I trust her, no problem. Besides, those girls can make some serious bucks -- not to mention the free shows I'd get....

Like it has been said... if the relatiosnhip were secure, I'd have no problem whatsoever - after all, she's coming home with me :D *gleeful*

It's just a job where one uses one's assets - be they brains, brawn, or being buxom.

I don't think using brains and using body this way is comparable. Using body as being a sportsman or, of the more casual occupations, a physical worker, that would be comparable. Even the image-intense jobs where you score points for attractive looks. But not something like this (I'm speaking about the more sexual ones, not the photos where they are wearing casual tank & shorts kind of clothing). Call me a bigot if you wish.

Man, you just don't know how much some women get off on the whole thing of comparing themselves to other women. Some dancers spend a large part of their time looking at pictures of other girls - everything from size, to proportion, to shape - it's really kind of crazy. Their entire lives are centered around the appearance of their bodies. The one I was invovled with also entered "body competetions." It's really a big deal for some of them. It's really nuts.

BTW, if men do the same thing, it's considered healthy competetion and "body building." If women do the same thing, it's considered "sick." Personally, I think the whole thing is a big waste of time and energy...

Well, if they don't overdo it, it can actually be cute how they want to be so pretty and check out the competition. ;) After all, they are at least partly doing it for us guys. In some ways, with the one & only prince charming from their dreams in mind. Then we can do our job letting them feel adored and cherished... this is a very important part of the guy's job and a lovely one.

Going further this route, pageants and competitions seem pretty innocent -- although I do have a problem with how much some are ready to show to win. But here, we're talking about a job. I'm not talking about one or another student or otherwise economically pressed person standing there and looking cute while being not fully but still decently dressed. But those monstruous cleavages, transparent fabric on breasts, skirts/shorts riding so low on the front that pubic hair would be showing if it hadn't been shaven, prostitute-style garments... come on. That's not the same. Someone is treating sex like merchandise there.

That they may look great is another thing. I wouldn't complain about my girlfriend/wife looking like an angel and holding everyone's breath, making guys' heads turn as she's passing by. But I would complain about my girlfriend/wife looking like a slut and doing her best to excite guys sexually with her looks, let alone showing them something private for money received one way or another.

I think Chandros brings up a good point. There's a double standard here. Men compete in "body building" competitions all the time, and generally the only thing they are wearing is a small thong.

Furthermore, there are male strippers too. I don't see us ripping on them. Perhaps the ladies of the board should chime in on how they would feel about that?

OK, Aldeth, I'll do a little chiming. I have passed the age when even thinking about being a booth babe is possible so I'll just make a few general comments.

    1) I think the outfits mostly make them look like sluts.

    2) Body building for both males and females is great. Good for your health.

    3) A woman dressing to be attractive is quite different from a woman dressing to obviously excite the male libido.

Most women of any age like to be thought attractive but that does not mean they want to be sex-objects.

edit: When men make it obvious that it is looks that attract them to a woman why should they blame her for catering to that?
