    Are there any monk-specific weapons?

Maybe some claws or something to give a bonus to the hand to hand combat?

BTW Monks rock after lvl 14

    Yes there is one.
It is called gauntlets of crushing. Althugh it ain't a weapon it gives you +4 to hit and +4 to damage with fists. You can get it in the Sahaguin city if you work for the king.

There is also armor for the monks. The only armor they can use are the Ioun stones which must be put on the head like helms. There are a few nice ioun stones in the game.

If you have the bonus merchants there's this very nice wakisachi or ninja-to in the Copper Coronet. +3, 1 extra attack per round and something else too, I believe.

So if I work for the rebels (which I did) my monk misses the cool gauntlets? Whoops!

    Oh well, he still rocks.

Yes, the gauntlets are given to you by the king personally; they are not on his body or in his treasury.

    Just remembered.
Joluv, a bonus merchant in Copper Coronet, has a Monk-0nly Wakizashi +3 that gives an extra attack.

Sorry people, I am not being careful enough when reading the topic

Yes, that's the one Volar mentioned above. It's called the scarlet ninja-to IIRC.

[IMG] It is interesting... although the monk can't learn the katana proficency, he can use the katana quite well! Why is this? Is it a bug or something?

It's because he can use weapons a thief can use and a thief can use Katanas.
In throne of Bhaal I defenitely am going to be a monk.
You must be nigh undefeatable if you're level 40!
Even beyond level 21 you're nigh indistructible...!

If your monk has at least the following stats, he can wear Keldorn's Firecam Full Plate +1. Remember the description about that armor? Few others then Keldorn can also wear it :D

    15 STR
    17 CON
    12 INT
    18 CHA

After a few levels your natural Ac will surpass the ac of this full plate, but then you can use it for the freedom that's enchanted on it. Now you can make the monk also usefull in the beginning of the game, where he normally sucks, because of his high ac.

This maybe be mentioned before, but I thought, heh, just repeat it for the new ones in this board.

Re: monks wielding katanas and so forth. I'm not sure why (other than maybe the weapon's special abilities) one would do this.

It's kind of cool to wade right in and punch/kick the snot out of all of the bad dudes.

[IMG] HA...HA...another interesting BUG. How is it that a monk is jumping around in a heavy full plate armor. It is ridiculous!

    AND NONSENSE TOO...

There are other ways in the game to "play" the monk role...without a monastery...for instance my monk told Phaere that he couldn't sleep with her because he was celibate :D.
Also, monks are meant to use their fists not other weapons. If there was a traffic jam and my monk couldn't get to the front (not something that happened very often) he would use a sling and was good with it. That's about it for weapons.
