"Gold farming" at its best. The mental image of a chinese man with a basic grasp of English chained to a computer is hard to picture but difficult to forget.

I remember that from playing FFXI. My poor little lvl6 Mithra monk got thrashed by an orc, and as she lay there bleeding, a high level guy came and raised me. When I thanked him, his instantly replied.

'Sorry, I do not speak English'. The reply came so quick, it must have been under a macro.

The guy was repeatedly doing the same quest for money.

There's lots of chinese guys at my school, and they are really into their games. One of them is always playing whenever I see him. If he isn;t playing games, he's at meals, if he's not at either of these two activities, he's on ICQ.

Does this dude even do lessons? £7000 a term, and he only plays games?

I don't see any reason why you should be offended, we're not "bashing" Asians nor discussing common stereotypes (despite what I might look like). We're discussing this addiction occuring in Asian countries which is a serious issue that has caused deaths.

EDIT: There is a website which names itself a "Study Group for Gaming Culture of Korea". This website is GameStudy.org.

It's fascinating you know. I'm currently in Korea and indeed people are overnighting starcraft every day they can. On every street are at least three PC rooms and they are fully packed.

It's final exams now and no change whatsoever, starcraft all the way, isn't that game almost 10 years old now?

Not that I'm studying though however, I'm drinking beer with the english awaiting the world cup....but still.

The original Starcraft is from the late 90s. Not quite 10 years, but getting there. Still an awesome game, though. :)

At this rate, games will no longer be 'games' and just become an other addiction that causes more harm than good. If it isn't already.
