Alignments

Umm. I´m just wondering wich alignment you think I should choose? For my barbarian Half-Orc that is.
    I´m thinking these three:
    Chaotic Neutral?
    Neutral Evil?
    Chaotic Evil?

It´s kinda hard playing evil in this game don´t ya think? If you look at the lines that you can choose from I mean..

I want to be nice at some times, but I also want to be evil. But it´s prob. one of these three however... Cuz all in my group are evil except Minsc.

Well now. What do you think then?

Choose Chaotic Evil and Rage'n kill everything you see. Start with yourself......Sorry, only a joke.

Talking serious, Chaotic Neutral is your choice: sometimes nice, sometimes not. Perfect fer a barbarian.

[IMG] ok, then it´s probably what I should choose.
But isn´t chaotic Neutral characters kinda...... insane?

*sigh* i always go for neutral...when im evil i do good things and when im good i do bad things so neutral evens out my choices. and neutral characters are reliable...in my sense :D

[IMG] well, im going to have to say, if you want to do more evil than good. go for neutral evil. Like Viconia. Its pretty good when it comes to balancing out. If you favor more good than evil, go for neutral good. Chaotic neutral is just....well chaotic. Unless you just wanna have some real fun and goof off, and blow the game. Go for it:) If you want it a bit more serious go for the above options hope this helps:)

To determine your alignment, forget all the stupid descriptions. Just figure each point on the scale.

Is your character helpful to others in general: good

Is he out for himself in general: evil

Is he altruistic sometimes, but selfish at others? : neutral (on good-evil axis)

Does your character work within/for the system? (ie. organizations, governments, etc.): Lawful

Does your character work outside the system, working for individuals or themselves. : Chaotic

Does your character work for organizations when it suits him, but outside the system when it suits him. : Neutral (in terms of law and chaos)

Most Barbarians are outsiders, and Half-Orcs in particular. So Chaotic is likely. If you are strictly mercenary or cruel, then you are likely evil. If you are a defender of the weak, and righter of wrongs you are Good. If you are pretty much in between, you are neutral. I would say Conan was a Chaotic Neutral.

If you wish to roleplay, think about what the character is like before you pick the alignment. It is better to match the alignment to the charcter, than the character to the alignment.

I see neutral as the best option because you can do things from both ends of the spectrum and not have to worry about your char being in a fowl mood, and this way you won't have a problem with worrying about who to put in your party.

Actually, if you play with created characters of your own, they don't complain. As I said, I go for neutral because when I'm evil: good things, good: evil things and neutral:good things with a pinch of bad.

I've always been wondering about that.. .it isn't really possible to play the game and be evil all the time, right? I mean, that makes it impossible to complete the main quest, right?

depends on your way to play evil. To fully roleplay a chaotic evil character I think is impossible, but lawfull and neutral evil should be playable as you're more looking into own profits, than destruction of everything

To be honest it doesn't really matter. I have tried to see what difference allignments make to the game and really the variants are very small. However it is fun to roleplay and for this reason a chaotic evil half-orc barbarian would do the trick.

yeah well, 99% of the quests you get are all nice and fussy anyway.. So it'd be tricky to be all evil.. :-(

Actually, your alignment has nothing to do with the game. You could be evil and kill everthing or you could do all the quests. You could be good and kill everything or you could do all the quests.
