Ok... with all these discussions about spells and all I decided to start a new campaign!
    with a new character!

I ended the game with a wizard slayer and I really enjoyed it!
I usually don't take fighting classes, but since it had some pretty good resistance to magic I thought he would be very useful...

So now I was thinking about a casting class (priest, mage or druid...whatever), btu I'm open for sugestions that any of you can give so I can have another great experience while playing things all over again!

    Thanks for your time

Depends what type of caster you want to play. I personally don't enjoy throwing spells over my team but prefer to be in the thick of combat so I tend to use a fighter/mage multi, a little slow to start off but by the time you reach level 6 spells you're laughing.
I think one of my favourite combos was Spell Immunity: Divination, then waded into combat and fired my first sequencer (Improved Inv. Fireshield Red, Stoneskin) if the fight went on a bit fired the minor sequencer (Mirror Image, Blur) and cast PFMW if needed. Definately had a lot of fun with that character.
I tend to use clerics as self-buffing killing machines, I guess I only really use magic to make my melee stronger but it's proved effective so far. I recently started using Flamestrike though and was pretty surprised with the insane damage, (60 if they saved, much much more if they didn't!) but I used a four man team and they levelled pretty fast, I think Anomen received his HLA at Brynnlaw then the game became a bit easy :S

Nooooo!!!! - the idea with fireshield is that you want to be hit, because that is the only way it does damage. By being improved invis. you are harder to hit and the fireshield will be less effective. You're better off having a Mirror image or save the slot for another stoneskin (because the enemy will still take damage if he knocks out a stoneskin or an image).
And we're in the SoA forum btw, so no HLA's ;)

I reckon a straight mage would be good, Edwin or Nalia fit that well. Alternatively sorcerer's can be very powerful, just make sure you plan your spell picks; the Spell Discussion posts are a good start for that.

Illusionist/thief characters (of gnomish origin ofcourse) can be fun. Good saving throws, thief abilities, and lots of spells to experiment with.

Cleric/Mage enables you to cast nearly any type of spell!

If you have ToB, Wild Mage is the most entertaining and powerful option.

Sorcerers are cool if you pick your spells wisely.

Does that count towards mentioning wild mage as well, I mean that's just as exclusive to ToB as HLA if we're being that picky!
Smartass comments aside, and this forum does seem to thrive on them, experiment and see what works best for you. A sorcerer is great if you're not lactose intolerant :p otherwise cleric or druid is a good choice if you want a bit of a challenge out of the game.

OK, already. We don't need you guys modding each other. Keep the TOB stuff out of the forum please, as there is a whole shiny separate forum for TOB stuff.

    Jeez.

You said you don't usually pick fighter classes so i'm interested what experience you have with other types of characters and your general playing style, might make it a bit easier to give advice.
Although i'm not a big fan of Aerie, or any multiclass with a team more than 3 or 4 the cleric/mage definately has some interesting opportunities.
Spell triggers are key in any of my game plans and the C/M offers much more variety, some good buffs can turn anyone into a war machine in a matter of seconds, not to mention the healing and status removing possibilites, seriously too many to list but if you like magic I don't think you can go wrong there.

I prefer fighter/mages in ToB, since you still get the high level stuff then. In SoA I really enjoy Sorcerers - high charisma as a focusing attribute (no gear changing for buying stuff), good selection of spells without memorizing, and still get to wear the extremely powerful robe of vecna (unlike druids/priests).
