[IMG] Just going through the list of items available on the cheat list, and I've come across a few that I've never found before. (Or can't remember where I found them in other games) If anyone has any idea where they can be found in the game, I'd appreciate the leads.

    Arrows of dispelling
    Bolt of polymorphing
    Boots of etherealness
    Cloak of displacement
    Cloak of the wolf
    Efreeti Bottle
    Golden Lion figurine
    Long Bow of marksmanship
    Famir's blade
Mana bow (I know I've seen this one before.)
    Ring of Djinni summoning
    Skull of Death
    Tansheron's bow (ibid.)
    Taragarth
    The Root of the Problem

There were a couple others, but I worked out that they were rewards for completion of stronghold quests..

    thanks

Arrows of dispelling can be bought (or stolen!) from the fletcher in Waukeen's Promenade.

Bolt of Polymorphing can sometimes be found on weak monsters in BG1. I don't know if there are any in BG2.

I think that the Boots of Etherealness can be found in Spellhold. I remember having them in the Underdark in my first game, but I cannot recall where I found them.

The Cloak of displacement can be bought in Trademeet after having solved their animal problems (maybe you need to get rid of the djinn as well).

The Cloak of the wolf can be found in the cave with flesh golems in BG1. I don't know if you can find it anywhere in BG2.

The Efreeti Bottle can be pickpocketed from the djinni doorguard in Trademeet.

I think that the Golden Lion figurine is the reward for doing the druid stronghold.

The Long Bow of marksmanship is maybe the best bow in BG1. It can be found on one of the bandits in Tazok's tent. I have never found it in BG2.

    Famir's blade: No idea. Sorry.

Yes, you have probably found the Mana bow in the fish-hole in the Forest of Tethir.

I have never found it myself, but I've read somewhere on these boards that the Ring of Djinni summoning can be found in Aran Linvail's room.

The Skull of Death can be obtained from the imprisoned mage in the Underdark, if memory serves.

Tansheron's bow: Can be bought in Trademeet or looted from Catti Brie's rotting carcass.

    Taragarth: No idea.

The Root of the Problem: Hmmm... I recall finding this somewhere, or at least hearing of it. But I don't know where.

    Hope that helps.

Long Bow of marksmanship ---> BG only
Famir's blade ---> unknown.. never heard about it, so I don't think it is in the game.
Skull of Death ---> Indeed from Vithal, the mage in the Underdark.
    Taragarth ---> Unknown
The Root of the Problem ---> Club, Reward from the spirit of the Grove when you become a Great Druid

I know what Taragarth IS, but i cant remeber where i found it. It is a bastard sword +1 that gives 50% fire resistance and Non-detection.

It is not somewhere in BG2 I think. Played it a few times and never found a sword with that name. Maybe it is in another game?

[IMG] Taragarth... that's sounds so familiar... aaah, here it is...

    Taragarth, "The Bloodbrand"

Taragarth is a bastard sword, of steel fire-blackened along the length of the blade so that only the sharpened edges gleam. On the base of the blade, just ahead of the simple crossbar guard, is a rune etched into the metal. The rune is non-magical and evidently the mark of the blade's maker, but who the maker is has been lost over time.

Taragarth requires strength and stature to wield. While it is held unsheathed, the bearer is protected from fire(effects equal to a ring of fire resistance)and is protected by a feather fall (D&D spell not included in the game)if descending 10' or more precipitously.

Taragarth strikes normally but does +3 damage. It does not glow and is not sentient. While gripping Taragarth (even sheathed) the bearer is protected from ESP and detection spells (such as know alignment). Such spells simply have no effect. This protection does not affect charm, sleep, other control related attacks or psionics.

    Lore (Condensed):
Taragarth was forged by Elfgar of Silverymoon in the early days of the north, and was given to the champion Aeroth when he led the armies of the kingdoms of the North against the trolls of the Evermoors. The might of the trolls was broken at the Long Battle (of nine days duration)across the moors, and Taragarth was brandished aloft bloodily so often by the valiant Aeroth that it was dubbed "the Bloodbrand".

-from the Magister, official game accessory of the Forgotten Realms-
-written by Ed Greenwood and Steve Perrin-

    Hope this helps folks! :)
Remember, this is pen and paper D&D stats, not Infinity Engine. And no, I don't recall Taragarth in the game (BG1 or SoA) either.:hmm: :)

[IMG] I'll just answer for items they haven't...

    Bolt of polymorphing
(the target must make a save vs. poly or be transformed into a squirrel)
    - it exists in BG2 files as valid item, but appears nowhere in whole SoA game

    Boots of etherealness
    - inside the chest that two imps can help you open it and survive the trap (Underwater City)

    Cloak of the wolf
    - loot Wallag's Body in Anath's cave (Temple Ruins area)

    Long Bow of marksmanship
    - you can only buy it from Ribald in Adv. Mart

    Famir's blade
    - there is no item named like that in BG2.

    Ring of Djinni summoning
    - appears in chest within Aran Linvail's room ONLY if you work for Bodhi

    Taragarth
    (Firestorm gave the proper description)
    - it exists in BG2 files as valid item, but appears nowhere in whole SoA game
    - since it made some people interested here, you can create it from the console using code: SW1H37

Who's Wallag? I've been in that cave many times, but never found any 'lootable' bodies.

You're right. There IS that body in that cave when you enter it for the first time but the game won't let you loot it! :flaming:

If you want to check it, issue this command in the console (start a new game if you've already been there!):
    CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1403")

Ok then, glitch or not, "Cloak of the wolf" is unreachable in SoA.

Thanks, folks...I'd assumed all the items on the cheats list were obtainable somewhere in the game...thought I'd missed a lot more than that..

Agreed for the cloak...I created it from the console just to see what it would do, but after I shapeshifted it wouldn't let me shift back. Worthless.

I'll have to call up famir's blade from the console as well, to see if it's erroneously on that list..

    Again, thanks to all..

That would be the djinni's flask and is something completely different. The item you are referring to gives you the Sword of Chaos. The item mentioned above summons an efreeti to fight for you once a day. It can be obtained, also mentioned above, by pickpocketing the doorman outside the djinni tent in Trademeet.

You can kill him too for 5,000 XP and the bottle is still there. If you do that before the first time you go in the tent the other two won't turn hostile!

Making them happy by doing what they want you to do, (give the head of the guy they want) gives you more XP, I think that is the better solution.

Headbanger, your hunch was right. Taragarth is a sword of the Realms. :) The Magister, the sourcebook I used to find the stats of Taragarth, is a module or accessory of magical items of the the Forgotten Realms. It is one of the few releases of TSR right before it switched to 2nd Edition rules.

Here are some of the items in the Magister that found its way into BG2.

    Cloaks:
    *Cloak of Stars
    *Cloak of the Shield
    *Cloak of Reflection

    Swords:
    *Arbane's Sword of Agility
*Namarra, the Sword that Never Sleeps
    *Ilbratha, "Mistress of Battles"
    *Albruin
    *Shazzelim

    Miscellaneous:
    *Greenstone Amulet

There are also some items in ToB that were taken from the books and modules, but those are for the ToB Board. :)

    (Ha! Anti-flame etiquette, +5) :D

[IMG] Anyone know where the other bit of the Wave halberd is? I thought it was in the Sahaguin King's treasury, but when I checked I couldnt find it anywhere. Bugger; that halberd would have helped later on (esp TOB, hence no detail).

are you 100% sure about this?.. is it not available through some obscure means like albruin+1?.. its just i'v seen so many people claim they've picked it up in the underdark/ust'natha.. perhaps its one of those things where somebodys made something up and its just got passed on without anybody properly checking.. a myth..

but then nobody knows everything about this game do they.. i mean few "experts" believed in the gww bug despite it being mentioned time and time again on various forums.. and still not many people are aware of the method of getting albruin and some just dismiss the procedure without trying.. i try to keep an open mind.. i would like to think that there is some obscure (and seemingly random) way of obtaining it..??
