[IMG] I think it's everyone's job to have kept it bumped up on the first page if it's so great. I mean it's the greatest show on TV for crying out loud.

    :shame:

Looks like things will come to a head (so to speak) next week!

    :D

I thought the exact same thing until I started watching it.

I'm an old far* too!

Just watch it and pretend the first show never happened. It's not a "remake" but a "re-do".

Y'all are out of your fracking minds!

Who cares if Starbuck is a woman? The show is the best damn SciFi I've seen in decades. It's lightyears ahead of the original.

The OMG starbuck is a woman thing reminds me of how childish I was think OMG the new captian is a bald french guy when Star Trek TNG first came out.

Me. It would be like someone making a new Star Wars and saying, "what the heck, let's make Darth Vader a chick this time around - that would be good for a laugh"

It's completely different from what they did with Star Trek because each Star Trek series is a different vessel and a different time period and different character names.

Me and Dirk Benedict. Why? It's the same character, yes? Not his daughter or granddaughter or niece or mother or aunty?

:almostmad: Jean-Luc Picard was *never* on the original Star Trek. It wasn't like Patrick Stewart was acting as James Kirk, Llandon.

If this incarnation of Battlestar Galactica was intended to be its own series, why was/is it necessary for identical character names? Unless each of these people in the new version (Starbuck, Apollo, Boomer, Tigh) are decendents or relations of the original series characters?

Also, afaik, nicknames for pilots (Starbuck and Apollo for examples) are meant for only one pilot. No one else should/would have that particular nick, even a relative! :nono:

So, the question (imo) is: is this an actual continuation of the series concept by Glen A. Larson and Richard Hatch or merely a revamping of a classic (though B graded) television series of the late 1970s, which is all the rage nowadays? :hmm:

Revamping. In the original they leave their homeland and eventually end up on earth. A continuation would be after they got to earth and had to fight off the enemy. I only watched this version in the beginning. Just didn't cut it with me.

Edit: There were a few things I didn't care for but if they were going to do a 're-do' they should have changed the names. Sure the original is what...25-30 years old but there have been occasional reuns. Fine with me if the youngens like the new show nothing says I have to watch it and I don't.

C graded, please. I mean, nothing was good in the original. The acting, the SFX, the stories. Awful.

My only excuse for watching it is that I was 10 years old or something like that.

The new series is so good it's on another planet, judging from the mini series. The actual series is starting on February 1st.

I hope they don't botch the synchro.

It's neiter a continuation..nor a redu. It's a totally different series with the same name.

Starbuck, Apollo, ect. are not the characters names in this series. They are the pilots call signs, like "maveric" in Top Gun.

For example "Starbuck" is Kara Thrace. "Apollo" is Lee Adama..ect.

I'm tellin y'all, take a look at it. It's well worth you time to rent the mini-series on DVD.

If it's totally different then why did they give the show the same name? Just makes it too bloody confusing. I know, let's start a new animated series called South Park, with all the same character names, only it's going to be 'different' so don't try and compare it to the original South Park.

Erm, this show has been on since last year, it sounds as if none have you have seen the new one...
Do you mean the second part of the second season? Because thats whats airing over here.

In anycase, this show is amazing. I love it! Who cares if they changed a few minor (or major) details? This is the twentyfirst century, we need some excitement!

What he said. The less said about the original series, the better.

I have to agree, the new Battlestar Galactica is currently the best Sci-Fi out there.

As for those small things which have been changed like Starbuck being a female; does not matter. It has been fun to read about it though, when the purists have gone mad about it :D.
