OK (Deep breath) I was going on a killing spree destroying all the trolls in the De arnise hold when I found out I couldn't save and I thought it was just for that area but when I killed Torgal and some of my NPCs were fatigued I tried to sleep but found I couldn't do that either so I kept going but eventually all my charecters were so fatigued that I was killed by a gang of thugs near the copper coronet and I was just wondering if any of you guys have had the same problem or is it spose to happen like that? (Phew..)

Amazing, I've experienced the same thing at de'Arnise hold outside. I couldn't save the game for the life of me.
I moved around a bit then and jumped to other areas, and it worked then (it usually does).
But this same thing seems to happen an awful lot in BG2. (It was rare in BG1 but seems much more wide-spread in BG2).
The game usually won't allow you to save if it's still processing data, there are some enemies around (even if you don't see them) or if there is an upcoming event that has to be played out before you can save.
Usually moving to another area or waiting for a while helps.
Oh yeah, it also won't allow saving when you're in middle of spell-casting or just after you place a spell on your entire party.

Pretty damn restrictive. Not to mention that it happens practically always when I try to rest. "You are not allowed to rest at this time". GOD DAMN!
Of course, hitting cancel and trying again works in 90% of cases. ;)

Silver Dragon, in case you don't have the patch yet, make sure you install it. It seems to have helped a bit regarding this problem.

I've seen the game thinking it was combat long after I've cleared the level. I couldn't sleep at the tavern in the drow city because the game thought enemies were still present. But what annoys me the most is that you can't load during a dialogue. So, if you make a mistake, you have to sit through the whole long, drawn out conversation. I can understand not being able to save, but I want to load, dammit! I feel trapped.

I found that if you go through a exit that causes the game to auto-save, and then load the newly saved auto-save file that not resting glitch gets cleared and you can rest with no problem. The worst place I've found that so far is when killing off the thieves for Bohdi

[IMG] The same as Taluntain...I also experienced that event a couple of times, especially at the keep.
The thing I did when it happened to me was going back to the place where you started to notice that you couldn't save...and also circle around the room (go down, move around, go up) and maybe you will be able to save.
