[IMG] Ok, i'm probably getting alittle ahead of myself, but i am thinking of what i should do for my next party. this game i am using.

    Brax(mine)-fighter-tank
    Minsc-tank
    Viconia-tank/cleric(girdle of frost gs.)
    Jahera(sp?)-light tank/cleric(girdle of hill gs.)
    Nalia-mage
    Imoen-mage

I think that this party works pretty well, but i think i want some variety for my next game (from the one i am working on). I need some suggestions. I would have used Keldorn, but i can't seem to find him any where.

o yea, iam in ch. 6 now.(just in case u wanted to know)
(P.S. sorry for the horrid spelling)

With Girdles of Strength and those gauntlets from the Sphere you can buff up a lot of characters. Viconia has the gauntlets and killed the Shadow Dragon the other day at Lvl 11. Constitution doesn't always matter. So who has the belt you ask? Jan! Not bad for a little guy. ;)

I suggest you try a thief or a Sorcerer. I personally love the sorcerer, and he kicks ass. There are plenty of tanks, and they are less important. My sorcerer holds his own with about 30% of kills and exp. Thats as much as Minsc and valgyar have. Getting to the point, they are lots of fun to play.

    Sorcerer
    Minsc
    Valgyar
    Jaheira
    Anomen
    Nalia/Aerie/Imoen

Stealth and distance. Let me tell you one of my favorite tactics. First set up your characters with missle capabilites in an easily defendable position. Then have Yoshimo set several traps where the baddies are sure to tread. Next put Yoshimo in stealth mode and have him backstab. If the backstab does not kill the baddie outright, he will give chase right over the traps and into a barage of arrows, bullets and/or darts. Gets them every time.

[IMG] There's a belt that raises constitution to 18 for a number of hours. During that time you'll get extra HP's from the higher constitution. I used let Aerie have it in one game. You can get the belt before leaving for Spellhold.

    Keldorn.
Accept the Unseeing Eye quest and you'll find him in the NW part of the Temple district sewer.

Next party should be different, right?
    1. Protagonist - ???

    2. Korgan - tank/melee
    3. Mazzy - tank/missile
    4. Edwin - mage
    5. A character you want to pursue the romantic affair with.

    6.
    - If protagonist is thief -> Keldorn or Anomen.
    - If protagonist is not thief -> Jan Jansen or Yoshimo.

  8. ayecapitan Guest

Korgan and Mazzy are likely to kill each other just out of principle
    ------------------------
Try playing not a parctical, but interesting party; It gets too boring when ye play the standard scheme for hunnerdth time - a mage, a cleric, a thief, 3 warriors: katana, 2-hander, long sword
If ye want a real adventure, just pick characters ye feel like picking, not the ones ye need (There be no mageling or priest in Drizzt's party -just a thief, ranger, barbarian and 2 fighters :) )
    For example, I play with
    1. Feanor - Asassin (CG, Dagger+, ShortB+, SingleW+,ShortSword+)
    2. Haerdalis - Blade
    3. Viconia - Hottie ;)
and pick up some occasional characters on the way, dismissing them right after
We bested Thaxll'ssillyia, and going to get Firkraag, though it takes some pondering on how to do it ;)

Follow me advice and be happy!

Jack, I think it is a mistake having Nalia and Imoen in the same party given that Nalia is basically a poor man's Imoen. If you're going to have Viconica AND Jaheria (not unwise though) it would better to get another 'tank'... maybe Anomen who'll give you even more spell casting options (I'm happy I don't get stick for liking Anomen so much :D). Also you need some ranged fighters I reckon... Valygar, Mazzy, Jan Jansen or Keldorn fit the bill, Imoen can use a Cross Bow too but arrows are cooler.

It may be my sexist ways but the best part I've used so far is my current one:

    Mage
    Minsc
    Korgan
    Anomen
    Keldorn
Yoshimo (dualled to fighter, grandmastery in short swords for backstabbing later.. but alas now this spot is taken by the female Imoen)

The balance here is brilliant, esp. now I have Imoen as a backup mage. I intend to take the evil party

    Thief
    Jaheria
    Korgan
    Vicionica
    Edwin
+ another - maybe Minsc for old times sake but prob. that useless blade everyone hates.

Again there is balance here as there are three (potentially 4) spell casters. However I may be in the same 'tank' dilema as you if I don't take Minsc. Alternatively I could leave Cernd as a greater Werewolf for the whole game. Suggestions?

Thanx for all of the great suggestions. the only reason i have imoen & nalia in the same party is that i enjoy having magical fire power behind my fighters (two mages=2x the spells). I also think i need to make up for my missle delima but i'm not sure who to put in the group to make up for it (or to take out). I also like having 2 clerics(well 1 druid) in my group to summon some elementals without such a risk(like the mage summoning spells). and as for keldorn, i have already done the sewers. but i took him to see his wife, and then never met me at the radiant heart(that is where i was supposed to meet him right?). so basically, he disappeard.

Why don't you take Nalia out and have Anomen wield a bow? Hif you give him the gauntlets of dex. Anomen's great and he's got a lot of good spells. With a good AND an evil cleric you'd be awesome against the many undead in this game. If you really want to keep two mages why not replace Nalia with Edwin and give Imoen a crossbow? Or take Jan Jansen who's got ever improving theif skills too. Given that both Jan and Imoen level out fairly early, taking Edwin wielding a slingshot +3 or something would be more beneficial if you like magic firepower (also if you haven't already got it, if you pickpocket the Efreet infront of the tent in Trademeet he has a genie bottle on him that can summon once per day, useful for increasing magic power because he comes with a host of fire spells and 2 magic missles)

    hmmmmm...

never even considered Jan, so, i guess that is good. edwin is a conjurer(sp.)and i would rather have a regular mage. Anomen i just don't like, period.

oh, well, now i have a lot to think about i guess.

Tsk, yet another Anomen hater. Edwin gets spell bonuses and his opposite school is pretty crappy.

But although Edwin is a conjurer and has crapy opposite spells, he is the only mage in the game (Excluding your own character if it is a mage) with 18 intelligence!
I had Edwin al the way in BG, but not this time in BG2, but that is only becasue I have good aligned characters, except for jaheira whose alignment is neutral. And of course, because of my good alignment, my reputation is 20, so Edwin won't even join me...
But the next time through, I'll defenitely have him and Korgan, because they are, along with Keldorn, the best characters in the whole game!

    "Go bother someone else..."
Who would have this character in the party?

Nalia shall go and help her poor, theres no honor for her

Anomen hates evryone(he doesnt like Jan!), so let him rot!

All the ones who have a good attitude are Viconia and Valygar... But those i had in me previous game :(

So, go Haerdalis! Lets find our happiness in battle! :)

Humpf, Anomen is cool... Jan is a silly little gnome who just dies all the time. Edwin is the only mage worth having, I've played with Jan so I know (he's an illusionist thus gets no necromancy spells). Nalia?? I mean come on!!
