[IMG] This tower is really starting to peeve me. I can't even get past the second floor. Those two jellies slaughter anyone who goes near them. I've read they're resistant to some spells, but they seem to be resistant to all of them. Fire doesn't work, nor ice, nor magic missiles, nor Larloch's minor drain, ek cetera, ek cetera.

Anyone have some tried and true tactics against them?

[IMG] Bash them up with magic blunt weapons. Haste your group and Cast prot Vs. Evil. Take your mainfighter and let him get as low a AC as possible. Make him drink a potion of speed too. Send him in and draw their attention. Then let a healer move up and heal him, IF you can spare magic bullets then let someone shoot them from behind too.

[IMG] Or if it's just the loot you're after you can pretty much ignore the monsters and have invisable party members and thieves hidden in shadows go up the stairs.

the monsters don't actually have much interesting loot on them, so they're only worth the XP.

I thought the Mustard Jellies are immune to magic but I'm not sure. Give your thief a short sword +2 and try to backstab one of the Jellies. You can use melee attack with +2 weapons or better.
for the rest, use Fire, Cold or Acid arrows. The arrows will not damage them but the fire damage will do them pain. Bolts +2 are also ok.

The kobold commando's are easy. With the two front fighters killing the Jellies, the rest can simply stay at the entrance and kill the kobold commando's in on shot, let the mage kill one with magic missiles.

[IMG] If you don't feel like going through all the trouble of fighting the stupid beasties, just pause the game each time you go up the stairs, find the next up ones (they're on top of each other so be careful that you don't accidentally go down instead) and just click up.
    \Note/
you might want to put your weaker party members at the front of the party, otherwise they tend to end up sandwiched between two monsters on the next floor

The problem of these Jellies are that they can only be damaged with magical (I think +2 or higher) weapons. Use these weapons and the jellies won't be a big problem.

i just used my pure fighter (level 6(now 7) Shar-Teel to kill all of them
    even the kobolds is harder
by the way it was 4 of them when i entered

As I already said, level isn't too important, what weapons you have it more important. You can also use monsters (summoned) to be on front while your fighters/thiefs use magic arrows to kill the jellies and kobolds.

Ghouls are okay actually ... easy enough to hit ... just a pain when they hit you and hold you ... but those ghoulies that hit you, hold you and then put a sickness thingy on you is a right pain in the arse!

Indeed, and you know why? These are no Ghouls. These are Ghasts, a lot harder then Ghouls. That's why Ghasts are worth 650 XP and Ghouls 125. Ghasts hit very hard (between 15 and 20 damage) and also disease you. I just did this quest yesterday with my thief-only party and the Ghasts where the hardest part of the fight, the rest was a piece of cake.

Yea, TOSC is worth getting for Durlag's Tower alone, though there's more to it than that.

And you can buy all of the games through SP at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/index.php

Ordering them by going through the links there gets you a custom avatar for the boards as well. ;)

Grmbl  I still have no credit card. And I still need ToTSC but can't find it anywhere in town. When the Euro is introduced, can I then buy a game online and pay in euro's instead of with credit card?
