I took my druid to firewine bridge to get the gauntlets of weapon expertese(so maybe this guy could hit someone--he's got so few kills that it is actually fun to role play/a hapless hero), when I discovered that you can get into the dry riverbed(but you knew that). In there I ran into a crazy woman with a jar. When I took the jar a mage appeared. Is this connected to anything else? I may have slaughtered the guy too soon.

He had a cheesy "protection from normal missles" spell up so he deserved to die.

If I remember correctly, this is a stand-alone fight.

It isn't related to anything else in the game, as Kailynne Johanne said.

Indeed there are surely no relations to other parts of the game. There is also no other option, Carsa will always die and Kharak will always attack you. So you did the right thing by killing this feller.

I hope that the Gaunbtlets of Weapon Expertise, one of the best Gauntlets in the game, will make your druid a better fighter ;)

Firewine Bridge was an ancient elven outpost that fell over 300 years ago, probably to an evil power, but the exact reason is unknown. Villains and heroes have fought ever since on this ground and in the dungeon beneath it, but both found their doom in this dreadful place. Even the river has stopped flowing beneath the bridge. The bard Poe can tell you some more, a tragic story about the Ruins.

Y'know below the fire wine bridge where that maze is ... apart from kobolds and those ghosties, are there any other treasures or people to meet there?

I don't think so, apart from the supply of fire arrows...

Ha ha Tal. Yeah that's a way of putting it. That maze can be summed up with one word: PATIENCE. If you don't have it, forget it, skip it, go on, for the safety of your computer if not your sanity. :p

    And there's the ancient armour...

That dungeon is the main reason why I hate kobolds. Blasted 34 of 'em with a fireball once... That felt good.

Am.. What about the Mage and the Ogre-Mage? They are both in the Firewine Ruins... The mage has some usefull scrolls (there I finally got my fireball spell).

BB: Try the Thief Only Party I also have. Those kobolds commando's never see you comming, and they never shot a fire arrow on me. Hide with 4 characters.... backstab them all.. The easiest way to get rid of them :)

Or you could sneak past all of them and just backstab the mage and his gang... Saves you a lot of trouble.

Indeed. Already enough people died in that cursed Maze. And I left with more then 100 useful firearrows.

[IMG] The problem with trying to kill every little kobold in these dungeons is that they respawn, the buggers! All the time!:flaming:

Though I agree that it's a good source of firearrows.

When you want those arrows: There is one place (kinda like a small room with 3 ways) where about 10 KC's respaw after every night. Kill the Mage, learn fireball, sleep. Cast fireball, sleep. Cast fireball, sleep. After doing that 10 times you got 200 fire arrows.

Man the solution is simple to beat the little fleas! Get some top notch fighter at level 7 with kick ass armor and then charge into the throng!

Yes but they come from all directions and don't always target a buffed up fighter. They are punks, no denying it. :p

Well, I had a fighter heavy party - 4 fighty types with heavy armour, so I used the 3x2 formation, with two lead fighters and two as a rearguard. Possibly the rearguard is not essential, but KEEPING A TIGHT FORMATION is. Never, never ever, not even if it seems like a good idea at the time, leave the mages behind while the fighters go on ahead. I learned that the hard way.

The problem with Good Fighters vs. Kobold Commando's is not in the AC. The problem is the firedamage, that will also kick fighters with low armor class.

Maybe you can clean these maze (except for the mage maybe) out with only one fighter or Fighter/Thief. Give him this Equipment:

    - Ring of Fire Resistance (+40%)
    - Helmet of Defense (+20%)
    - Boots of Avoidance
    - Shield +1

Now you have a good AC vs Missiles AND fire-resistance of 60% wich should make it all a bit easier. You can also just have this fighter as front fighter. Give him also lot's of healing, it still would be necessary.
