I'd definitely say Golf; although Snooker is only barely a sport (at least club Golf involves a decent degree of walking) the build-up of tension is much more palpable than in a golf tournament. Only during the Ryder Cup has golf ever been able to hold my interest. That's because golf coverage mostly seems to involve reading the scores, which could be just as easily done on Ceefax.

IMHO, snooker (and in this, it's similar to tennis) has a key advantage on TV: you can easily position a camera to see all the "action", all of the time. This makes following what's going on much easier. Rugby and football can suffer from you not being able to see the formations etc. like you would be able to live.

Cricket takes an age to get in to (well, it can do) but once you do, it's the best ever, because of the way matches ebb & flow, and because of the tactics involved every ball. Golf never comes across well at all, not least because they flit between the players so often that all sense of context is lost, which makes it difficult to care, really.

For me it's tennis (how can 4 hour set be interestiong?) and basketball (they score points to frequently). Why I agree with you that snooker in not a real sport it's nice tactic game in fact. And it amazes what can be done there.

    Both Golf and Basketball.

Although the real snoozer isn't even in the list: Baseball

Tennis and football are both one of the most exciting sports to watch on tv.

Football, very exciting to see 22 men running after a ball for 1 hour and a half *snore*

Definitely golf. You don't even get to support a team or country.

A close race between Soccer and Ice Hockey. Run around for 2 hrs and the score is still 1-0. These aren't on the list but they should be. Or by Football, do you mean Soccer.

But with Soccer (European Football), the Announcer starts screaming Goal when you're just about to nod off to sleep. My beef with Hockey is simple: How come my team only scores when I'm in the can or getting a drink or getting a snack...

Cricket for me. This does not mean that I have no appreciation for the skill entailed in cricket or any other of the sports in the list. But watching it on TV as the poll says is really difficult, especially if it's not, what is it called, a one day match. Many of the choices I'm told are more enjoyable when you watch it in the actual location of the game. I guess you can soak up the atmosphere. I see this when the cameras pan to the fans during baseball and cricket matches.

Where's baseball? That's by far the most boring sport to watch in person or on TV...but seeing as it's not on the list, I chose golf. :rolling:

Golf without a doubt. Snooker can actualy be quite good to watch when you are bored.

And why the ********************************* is basketball on that list? It makes NO sense!

Much more entertaining than other sports! Why?

    1. Lots of points is scored, unlike football (soccer) when a game can end 0-0. Basketball games can not be tied (which is a great dissapointment when you watch a football game

    2. The number of amazing things that can happend on the court. Amazing dribble penetrations, dazzling dunks, flashy passes, blocks, fastbreak offenses, great teamwork, you name it. Alot of the things that happend on the court can make the crowd go "oooooooh" and stuff like that. In soccer that is not as common, unless you have Ronaldinho or another brazilian on your team.

    3. Close games. Often in basketball, games are very even in the late stages of the game. Because the game runs pretty quick, both teams will have many chanses to score. In football games, when the game is tied with only a few minutes to go, the chanses of a team scoring is not very big. Some basketball players also have clutch abilities. That means they can make potentialy game deciding plays over and over again. Its a joy to watch. If you ever saw Michael Jordan drain one of his buzzer-beaters you cant possibly say that the game is boring.

There are more reasons, but Ill just let you suck on these first...

@Barmy and Apeman - Just 'cos you can't dunk, it doen't mean that basketball is a bad sport!

IMHO the most booring spectator sport is golf (Lleyton Hewitt has saved tennis from this spot - he's from my home state and I paddle past his house each week)

IHMO Netball is the most booring sport to play - I't just too easy, there is no defence and shooting is just too easy (I scored 9 straight in a match in P.E.), I suppose it would be more of a challange if I were short.

But certainly your branding basketball as absolute rubbish is well-informed?

If American football was on the list, I'd say that. It's not fluid like football or tennis and I barely understand the rules. (I don't watch rugby, snooker, or cricket.)

    @Stu

First of all we have an excuse; White men can't jump :D

Second I don't like a sport where something like this happens every 10 seconds. "Look we have the ball, I'll just walk these few feet over to this basket where because of my 8 feet length I can just lay this ball softly in the net. But wait I'll just first jump in the air do 20 backflips and ram that ball in because I would look kewl.

What's fun about scoring every 10 seconds. I would rather see a fast paced football final where both the skill of the players and the keepers are evenly matched, thus resulting in a 0-0 which means more football and in the end the most nailbiting 5 minutes of the penalty shootout.
