I've finished the game with a ranger and a monk...thought I'd try a mage this time, while I'm waiting for Amazon to get ToB to me...Can anybody tell me what the mage stronghold quest is? I need a place to keep all my stuff.

    Really. Wow. Okay.

Does it make any difference as to how I get inside? I've already told Tolgerias to go **** himself...after Jan stole his ring, that is.

It is basically an alignment question - killing the idiot Valygar is not considered doing *good* (though I can't understand why). So I fear the only good way to get inside is to have Valygar at hand.

I actually never tried it the other way.

Just take out V and carry around his body. The odd thing is he only weighs 50 lbs. Not a very manly man.

in case you're interested, I thought the mage stronghold was kind of dull and unrewarding. The planar sphere quest to get the stronghold was fun, but the actual stronghold duties are really sort of, well, retarded. I won't spoil it for you by telling you any details, but don't expect an engaging plot once you acquire it.

Considering the kind of reward you'll get it *is* IMHO kinda rewarding, depending on the choices you make.
ince the strongholds should (in the intention of the game designers) just add "spice" to the gameplay and offer help in collecting 15.000gp, you shouldn't expect anything very exciting.
Anyway, the thief's and fighter's stronghold quests are worse :D and this is one of the reasons why I like to play a pally - they have the more challenging class quests

As for the thief stronghold...I never play with them...they're so wretchedly slow and it makes for an extremely tiresome chapter 1, I assume that's the mae'var thing. Don't mind the fighter/monk stronghold...I put all my stuff in those statues and set about 75 traps in front of them.

does anyone know how the quests work for multiclass characters?

Can you imagine Aerie weighing the same as Anomen? Oh, Anomen, what HAVE you been eating!! ;) But the Illithium weighs 100lbs after you get it off Neb.... I had to take everything off one character so they could carry it. Hm. So I guess they were trying to keep the weight to a limit.

What do you think is THE most interesting stronghold quest?

    >>>Bodies only weigh 50lbs<<<

Well if thats strange how about the fact that you can put as many of them as you want into a tiny vase, crate or chest. ;)

I second the Ranger quest, but also because Rangers are such cool types. Plus, you get to go back and keep Rangerizing the region. I thought it was cool. I was a DC Ranger/Cleric but for some reason I missed out on the Cleric reward after doing the quests. I wanted a Temple!

AFAIK your stuff will never get stolen wherever you stash it. I have all my arrow and spare weaponry I stole while I was just a theif stashed in the stand with fish on outside the copper corinet.
