Imoen v. Nalia?

Would Edwin still leave if I made him good with shadowkeeper or is it scripted into his whole character that when reputation reaches 20, start thinking about leaving

 

Well, for now I'm keeping both Nalia and Imoen in my party. Nalia is my primary mage and Imoen is my primary thief. Some redundancy, but I've invested too much in them, and the cost would be too high to replace either of them with a less seasoned NPC. Besides, the only other thief candidate is Jan, and he is just too physically ugly.

I like to keep Aerie as my main magic user, with both cleric and mage spells, she's got quite an arsenal.
Now, can you convert Imoen back to a thief within the game, or do you have to fiddle with the game program? If the first, I may do that... but if I have to go mucking around in the program,I'd rather not... way too many ways to mess up badly.

 

No, it can't be changed in the game. That's why it's called cheating.

 

Has everyone forgotten Jan..? He´s an Illusionist/Thief right? Or are you a racist and have something against gnomes? Well ok I admit, I´ve never finished a game with Jan, but that´s only because the game he was in my party stopped as soon as the Jaheira romance bugged. Other than him there aren´t any *real* good thieves. But I agree with Volar that cheating (and that btw is cheating) is not an option to any gamer that has any selfrespect. Though even I have changed the appearance of my main character once (fighter/mage... I wanted him to appear as a mage since the robes would look cooler on him then)

Though Imoen will more than enough make up for any needs you may have for a thief. Her trap detecting abilities are quite high enough and the locks she can´t pick are easily opened by a knock spell.

 

Changing your character's appearance does not in any way modify how you play the game, as long as their size (that ring around your character's feet) isn't changed, so therefore it really can't be considered cheating. It's pretty odd that you can change haircolour to blue or green, but can't decide whether your fighter/mage looks like a fighter or a mage. (Odd, Nalia and Imoen are both thief/mage dualclasses, yet they use different appearances, even though they should be the same. *shrug*)

 

Keep Imoen and kick out Nalia, I've found that Imoen is way more useful since she is already a badass thief and on okay mage while Nalia couldn't pick her way out of an unlocked chest. Anyways, just keep Imoen and have Nalia give all of her stuff to you before the prompt so that Imoen can have it.

 

I would have to say that Imoen is a better choice than Nalia. She has better thieving skills and has a more active roll in the game itself. As for the stats I believe they go as follows:

Imoen: Neutral Good

Strength: 09
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 17
Wisdom: 11
Charisma: 16
Stat Total: 87

Nalia: Chaotic Good

Strength: 14
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 17
Wisdom: 09
Charisma: 13
Stat Total: 87

I think because Imoen has a better Wisdom it makes her a better mage (atleast with lore and spells like limited wish). Both have the same dexterity, costitution and intelligence making them good thieves and mages. Overall Imeon is a better mage and a better thief so go with her.

I've always said it (and this is an OLD topic) Nalia is basically a poor man's Imoen. There is absolutely no reason to take Nalia over Imoen at all. And don't alter anything cheating is for losers.
