I've been playing a multiplayer game with all PC's but one, and I really miss the atmosphere of all the NPC's, I think it adds alot to the game.. With that in mind, I'm starting over and playing a single player game so I can go on to the expansion through that.. Any suggestions?

If you wan't to make an evil party, I would suggest you go for a fighter type, cuz the evil guys only have korgan as a nice fighter.
If you go for a evil fighter, I would suggest to either specialize in twohand swords, so you can get the really cool soulreaver or something, or else two weapon style with long swords &/or warhammers (the crom faeyr really rocks

If you play a good party, you can get nice fighters, so you could choose something different (or whatever you like), depends of your party off course.

    My two parties are:

    Good:
    me - elf mage
    Keldorn - twohanded sword
    Minsc - dualwield long sword/katana
Aerie - sling, later I actually gave her the crom faeyr and made her the figting type
Jaheira - club & shield, later in the game I gave her a quarterstaff
    Imoen - shortbow

    Evil:
    me - Fighter(beserker) I dual long swords & katana
    Viconia - warhammer
    Korgan - dual wield axes
    Edwin - mage
Jan Jansen - crossbow/short sword (ss good for backstabbing)
cant really decide for the 6'th one (sarevok in TOB I guess, hhhehe :))

    just my 2c

Actually I'm playing a multiplayer/single game right now. I'm 'sticking' to it all the way. This way I get to generate 6 different characters that I can perhaps import into the Throne of Bhaal and NeverWinter Nights.

I'm currently playing a Beserker, Paladin, Fighter/Thief, Fighter/Cleric, Monk and Sorcerer. I am utterly horrified how quickly they devestate Adamantium Golems, Dragons and the like. -Of course quite a abit of that is due to the gaming experience and familiarity that I have with the game but still...

I still miss some of the NPC interaction but I think the 'pay-off' of this party will outweigh the NPC interaction.

The payoff is loss of fun. I think it is really difficult to have the game be at all difficult with 6 PCs. Part of the challenge is creating a balanced party with the options. If you are able to pick and choose at will, I can't imagine it is difficult.

Lothar you are absolutely correct... but not in the sense that I was focusing on.

The BG2 gaming experience should be enjoyed numerous times with the standard 1PC and joined NPC's throughout the game. However after playing BG2 more than a few times and thinking down the road to TOB and NWN, the multiplayer option is hard to beat. Of course if you are familiar with IWD or HOW you realize they are the 6PC format... and still offer lot's of fun. My focus was on the multiplayer game so that I can generate 6 different playable, exportable/importable characters for future releases. Primarily NWN. So the payoff for that focus outweighs the NPC quests and interaction.

Again however I agree wholeheartedly that everyone should enjoy the traditional 1PC adventure found in BG2 -even several times. The multiplayer game that I am focusing on is really just prep for the future releases.

Well I've beaten BG2 twice with 1 PC and the rest NPC's, once as good side and once as evil (although I still had a hard time doing evil things, hehe don't ask me why ;p)

This time through I am playing it with 5 PC's and one NPC (romance interest)

Basically I was kind of missing the interaction between the NPC's, especially Minsc's behavior on alot of things, made me miss alot of the fun in the game.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear I was in a rush to get to work. Anyhow, the suggestions that I was asking is which NPC's are the best when it comes to communicating with eachother. I know like for instance Minsc talks ALOT more than the other NPC's, was wondering if anyone knew the best.. (besides romance interests, of course)..

But I have decided to just stick with my party, for now, to build up multiple characters..

However, as many times as I've played through the game I have never duel-classed (Haven't even done it in BG or Icewind dale either).. So I have a couple questions if anyone has the time to answer them.

Heh, well mainly the question is: How exactly does duel class work? I assume that you start a character, and at a certain level you duel class him to another one, and you lose the abilities of the class you previously was until you get back to the level your other skills was at (Level 9 fighter duels to mage for instance, mage is level 1 and has to reach level 9 in order to use both skills, but once he's reached level 9 he can no longer advance in being a mage, but instead goes back to being a fighter).. Is this how it works? If so, how far in levels can you get?

All right up until the end, when the mage hits level 9, the fighter skills will be regained, but will still progress as a mage, once you dual class, your previous skills are frozen.

    @Kryonis:

Jan Jensen - he tells a lot of stories and all of em are good
Jan + Viconia - jan explains what a draw tastes like!
Korgan - his story about his last party is very good.
Viconia - if you are romancing her she tells a lot of good stories.
Yoshimo - one of the best interactions! ;)
Jaheira - not much of stories, but you can do a lot of side quests for her.

Ahhhhh thanks... So basically the first class you choose will never gain levels after you duel-class to another class? But you'll be able to use the skills of the first class once you get the other class to that level? *takes a deep breath*

Ok, final question: Does duel class character have different level caps than others? Like a fighter to a thief, will the thief still be able to attain max level?

Thanks for the NPC suggestions, I appreciate it :)

For duelclassing, I have no idea. If you duelclass at level 9, when you first start, the character will still be able to reach as high as they could without the duelclass, though.. I think.

    As for NPC suggestions... mmm..

Well, of course the romance intrests talk *A LOT*- but that's somewhat obvious. Their interactions with each other are kind of nice, though, even if they both are always picking on Jaheria and Khalid.

Having Edwin in your party can create a lot of diolog- not only is he funny, and people like to pick on him for his way of talking to himself- but he also has his.. ahem, scroll quest. Everyone likes to tease him about that. ;)

Jan, of course, has a lot of talking to do, even if you end up wanting to smack him most of the time (I can't stand him, personally.).

Valygar is pretty silent, but if you put him with Edwin or Viconia, he talks a bit, although mostly to be rude to them. ;)

Heir-Delis and Yoshimo both have a lot of good diologe (and the bard has that romance with Aerie), and they also don't get along with one and other.

Minsc has a bit to say, too, but he's awfully loud and obnoxious. ;) He makes good friends with Mazzy and Keldorn, and gets mad when they die, happy when they are raised. Keldorn also calms him down from his rages, which is sweet.

    Did that help any?

pheww. Thats a lot of info. I guess its gonna be fun playing singleplayer eventually.
I have only played multiplayer. I now see why they have limited the numbers of NPC from BG1 to BG2.
