It took me all this time to realize that Jaheira has the extra 5th level spell, Harper's Recall. I guess it's handy, since it allows her to raise the dead if you choose not to recruit a cleric.

But after trying it out, the affects of the spell hardly match the spell description. First, the damage to Jaheira was wrong. I think the spell description says 10 damage but for me she suffers 15 damage. (Numbers might be the other way around) Second, it says that the revived person's stats will be drained for a while after casting. But I saw no such affects.

So what's up with this? (Not that they matter very much...)

As my PC was a cleric(dualled into a mage LATER)I never used the spell, I think it is no match for cleric's spells, still it is decent for a druid (Jaheira) to have a raising spell.

I do not know, it may be a bug, I guess it is not too important so don't bother OK?

Not near as good as a reload.

Blog, are you playing on Hard? Every source of damage, including spells that damage the caster and Berserker Enrage wearing off, does 150% damage on Hard.

Harper's Call is indeed missing the attribute drain effects, but the damage is correctly set to 10. Fixed damage amounts in spells can be affected by the difficulty level--are you playing on a different difficulty than normal?

edit: some cross-postage with Kish. :)

Harpers Call is a waste of time, isn't it? I've never ever used it or Raise Dead because I'd rather just reload.

ditto. I've never had the need for more than 20 ressurections in a game - and usually I waste most of the charges on healing, and not raising the dead.

Never used that spell when you get a free rod of resurrection from the sewers. Pretty much obsolete.

i dont remember which one but one of the resurection spells make you lose 1 constitution. i guess it was raise dead. Harpers Call is better than that but not better than reload. if you arent a strict role player that is...

Actually, no raise spell makes you lose constitution. it does in P&P, but not in any BG.

I never used Harpers recall. I prefer the reload button.

I think HArper's Recall is cool, because I think it's fun to raise your guys if they die, and not reload (unless the protagonist bites it, or the character is disintegrated). I think the stat loss is reflected in the character being fatigued.

I don't actually use the spell often, because the Rod of Resurrection is just better. By the time I need to worry about guys dying, I'm usually rich enough to sell and buy back my rod to recharge it.
