SoA keeps stealing my items

It happened several times that I saved the game and when I loaded it again some items were missing. It first happened with the part of the sword from the first dungeon, and later the robe of the good archmagi(or what it's called) and my familiar were gone. What bothers me most is that I lost a point because my familiar was considered dead!
Did this happen to anyone else and how can I fix the problem?

 

As I always say, the #1 way to stop bugs is to go download the patch. If you don't have it then, T'WAS ELMINSTER, THE CULPRIT, HE WANTED A NEW ROBE!

It happens to me too and I have the latest patch and use no hacking or editing mod programs. It's just one of the things you got to prepare for. Save regularly and always cheak the items that are still in you inventory. Sorry, but thats all the advice I can give.

Well, I got used to it. Now when it cheats me, I cheat back. So I got the cheat program, and in case my brother deletes the old file I can go to the cheat editor and give my party the lost items.
I know cheating is not fair, but I think in this case it's my right to do so!

It NEVER EVER happened to me. Not even in unpatched game. I've just heard that it can happen if you are struck by Nishruu or Hakeashar. The item vanishing thing, yes.

But I know something else. When you drop an item on the ground and wander around the game - the item will be gone when you return.

I don't believe you a single letter my dear gamer, especially because you ALREADY have cheat util. And what is so good with that cheat util? Bugs, bugs, and more bugs than original game had. I'd say you got what you deserved. I hope you get nice "format c:" and then something else will vanish too. Have a nice day.

 

Uhh.. I have SK too... I haven't installed it but I downloaded it. I wonder why I did that doh?

 

gamer, I dont think the is a patch for that problem, furthermore I really think you're like the ONLY one that has it. And even more so, if you took the time reading the conditions of the patches, third party expansions or game manipulating utils, it says "We are not responsible if the game crashes or there is unforeseen bugs" so I figure the only one responsible is the recipient of those things mentioned. Lastly I have installed IEEP, SK and several patches, I even altered files to put in new kits, templates and changed appearances of my characters and I NEVER lost anything. so I figure this, perhaps its the game saying you cheated enough, now learn this lesson

 

Sorry Extremist, but I think this time you are wrong. The Items dissapeard one month ago and I found this site and the cheat tool last sunday. See? It can't have been the cheat tool! And I don't think it's posible to put a familiar on ground and leave the area so he's lost. It's the truth, my items keep vanishing!

Well, maybe it's a bug that appears only in the German version. Yes, I'm German so sorry if I mess up with the names of some items and characters

Ahhh, sorry, familiars, yes...

In fact they DO vanish from time to time, you should keep them in pocket in ordinary cases and use only in special occasions...

No matter, I really don't believe items thing, but I do believe familiars thing.
And can you bring back your lost familiar with that crapshit util? No. Nein.

Yes, Extremist's point about the Nishruu/Hakeashar was true - being hit by either of these causes magical items to be drained by one charge, however, in pre-patch games this tended to drain items that didn't have charges (e.g. Nalia's ring, mage robes...). Result? Disappearance of item. I spent many a battle running away from a Nishruu around a table or something just to avoid losing my hard-earned kit.

 

ive lost my familiar before, (dissapeared) And i lost my archmagi robe.....it sucked

 

You can't really bring back the familiar but you can restore the settings and cast a new search familiar spell. That's what I do. Look I don't cheat! I restore my files!

Buggiest games ever? Hardly. Have you been gaming for long? I have. While there are bugs, I would not even consider it "buggy".

I agree with Gamer.
I lost a gem bag in the druid grove. The character who lost it fought an ettercap, shadow druids and trolls - the bag was there before the fights and was gone after them (with a save and restore in between).

I searched the ground thoroughly thinking maybe we dropped it (spell? ettercap ability? - hey, I was getting desperate for ideas), but no luck so I eventually put it down to a bug.
Yes, I have the latest patch installed.

I noticed the bag was in the far right position on my inventory so I only put cheap items there now (just in case that was relevent), but it hasn't happened again.
Gamer, do you recall where these items were stored on your character? Was the robe being worn when it vanished?

Also, it's documented in the FAQ that familiars can get lost when you transition from one area to another. Yes, it's a bug.

 

There is one more thing you don't mention (maybe it is on purpose?).

When someone goes away from your party, that one gives you some items from inventory, let's call them quest critical items (for example Lack of Jaheira's Hair).

Now, if your inventory was full, you'll drop something on the ground - but the items your NPC gave to you will be in your inventory instead of those items.

Tell me now, when you checked your inventory again, was it still FULL (but without items you had before), or it had at least two empty slots (one empty slot could be used Black Spider Figurine)?

If you dropped items, and forgot to pick 'em up again, hey, it is not a bug.

Is it me or is Extremist calling Jaheira bald?

 

Okay, to be specific:
- My character's (fighter/thief) inventory was only half-full both before and after.
- The gem bag was on the far right of my inventory and it was the only thing that went missing.
- The other items did not move (I noticed the empty slot).
- The gem bag is not a quest specific item (but it had gems in it, dammit! ).
- Nobody joined or left the party.
- Jaheira was not in the party, so her scalp condition is not relevent.
- I realise you can drop items. That's why I searched the ground so carefully afterwards. I mean REALLY CAREFULLY - it wasn't there.

Any ideas?

I have the same bloody problenm! I've lost my Robe at least three times! As well as the belt of inertial barrier, etc. And these sure as hell did not drop, hey were equipped!

Grrr.... *Smoke coming from ears*

Because I'm completey unscrupulous, I cheat back and get the robes via Console.

Shadowkeeper... not using it to manipulate, only to view. And, oh yes, portrait control.
I do not do SK cheating. It's dull!
(Console is a completely different thing
