I agree - leav'em for later, they won't run away. Liches are among the strongest enemies in BG-2, with dragons and beholder hordes (without the shield of balduran or the cloak of spell reflection :D )

I did the Kangaxx quest after I returned from the underdark and he was still a pain in the ass, but he is not imposible. I suggest you do the kangaxx quest just before going to the elfen city

If you do ALL optional quests in Chapter 2 and 3, your characters should all be about lvl 12-15, so it would be more rewarding to do Kangaxx just before going to the Asylum.

You get a great ring which will greatly help you in the Underdark, etc.

    Herr'Don

PS. Do you all think that stealing the Ring of Gaxx beforehand and then killing him for one is cheating or what? I was going to do it, but it seems cheap. There's also the possibility that you could steal the ring from him and another would magically materialise to replace it, since he is a master of magic. Just a thought.

[IMG] dragon903, still haven't bothered to read the Rules/FAQ, after all this time? Next time I see you break one of the rules I put down there, consider yourself banned. Just so that it won't come as a surprise.

In case you're wondering, it's the stupid headline that attracted my attention. You can read about it in Basic Rules.
Like I don't have anything better to do but rewrite headlines because people are too lazy (or stupid) to write what their post is about.

    Lichs are undead mages.
The mace of disruption has a bonus againt undead - save vs. something or other, or automactially be destryed.
Thus the Lich is killed as he failed his save (which is highly unusual).

Having more than one Ring of Gaxx qualifies as cheating IMO. Taking advantage of game flaws in any way is cheating.

Was it ordinary disruption mace +1 or Mace of Disruption +2? I'd say +2. Because the +1 one shouldn't hurt Kangaxx.

    [Edit]
    To Tin_man:
I know that one Enchanted +5 is called +2 :p
The version Enchanted +1 is called as +1 :p

    To Alex:
You don't need Paladin to use this mace. :p

    Extremist!

I think the mace of disruption is a +5 weapon when it is used against undead creatures!

Let me explain...the mace has a THAC0 bonus of +1 but it hits every undead, even greater vampires like Tanova, who requires +3 or better weapons to hit.
It is not proved yet, but I think that the mace of disruption supposingly will hurt Kangaxx.

Dragon903! If you have a question, please search the forum first if there is an answer present, besides starting the 1.000.000 -st topic of Kangaxx asking the same question will use unnessesary disk space on the server.

Also be sure to pick up a scroll of protection vs magic lest he imprison your a**, which he can and will attempt to do almost every round. And other than the mace of disruption he can only be hit by +4 or better weapons. I never tried it but assuming they correctly copied demi-liches from ad&d, holy word spell should either out right kill him or at least damage him greatly. Otherwise i suggest the magic protection scroll and a paladin with carsomyr.

To Extremist: Yes yes i know, but considering the demi-lich only fails his save on a natural 1, (shouldnt fail at all according to d&d rules if i remember correctly!) plus is 90% or so resistant to phsical damage carsomyr is the best way to go. (hell when isnt it?)

If you can't find the right houses. Just wander around with the thief and search for traps. The parts are within the doors that are trapped.

    To TIN_MAN:

Mace of Disruption +2 is ALWAYS considered as +5 weapon no matter the type of creature you strike it on.
But if the type of creature is undead - then you get a chance to kill it with only one stroke.

    To Alex:
I don't care about d&d rules for demi-liches. Mace of Disruption is far better than Carsomyr - it can be used by any class!
