[IMG] Ok I'm just about to go to Spellhold having done about half of the quests in Amn, and I have a nice 75k gold. The question is: What should I spend it on? I haven't really bought much of the special/expensive items, so any suggestions of what items to add onto my shoping list would be greatly appreciated.
    My party is:
    Me (Ranger)
    Viconia (Hottie :D/cleric)
    Jaheira (Druid/Fighter)
    Minsc (Ranger)
    Jan (Thief/Illusionist)
    Yoshimo (Thief)

One or two items I gotta get are some strength increasing belts/gauntlets for Jan and Vicy as it really annoys me when Jan's equipment barely makes the weight allowance .

Buy the something-giant strength girdle at ribalds. You can eventually steal the maulers arm in the copper coronet (bernard?).
    It's a +2 mace that set strength to 18.

Like Lokken said they add like half again to the game. Sure, their stats aren't as good as your can be, but that's the bloody point. Your the son/daughter of a god, they are just regular ppl compared to you. You miss all of the interaction if you go solo, and you dont get to try out all the equipment because one guy can only hold so much. Sure, you can play through solo, its your game, but you have to see things from other ppl's view point. Maybe their social life is so bad that an in-game romance is all they can ever aspire for? I don't know, but the game is much more entertaing with NPCs and it often helps you forget the drudgery of walking around which is like 80% of the game.

You also miss lots of great comments and subquests without the NPCs.

I´ve never tried to play it solo (has to be really difficult) but one of my best friends did and all he said was: "Don´t try it! Playing Baldur´s Gate II without NPCs is like drinking beer without alcohol...it´s okay but it doesn´t really make sense."
