Of course not. It's not like we have a better alternative. ;)

And anyone willing to play BG2 online certainly deserves all the help we can give them. I think there are very few people who own BG2 and actually play it online too.

it would be cool to use some of my chars online, but problem is you almost need to make friends first that will not use a character that they have made awsome, i would love to use my current level 10 mage/theif with anyone, but i dont wanna play with someone who has use shadowkeeper to make a god character.

[IMG] There are a lot of variables when playing online so you'll have to be very specific when describing what you need help with.
Check out the manual first, there's some info there that can help you out.
If you can't find it there, post here with a detailed description of the problem.

playing online is easy. Just read the manual...

    That's because

    1. Lag.
    2. Some people are just asses and try to ruin your game.
    3. Sometimes you join a game and the player with the protaganist simply tries to rule everyone.
    4. It never fails that theres some newbie hero monger who has to do everything.

I had a game going and some n00b joined in and started running ahead of the party. This was on the Red Dragon level too. Needless to say he somehow finds the adamantium golem's room. However instead of simply dying like the fools he was he runs away....Right back into my Party! With the golem on his heels of course. That kinda thing can make online play irritating.

Don't get me wrong tho you can still have some REALLY good online games. Just be in the random adventure mind set when you go in. It's usually hard to do the quests YOU want to do. Remember that your party is now made up of other PEOPLE. ;)

i think the best way to play Multiplayer is to get your mates together in your house with their machines and play over a LAN

wonderful fun... everyone can shout and scream and tell each other what to do without taking offense to this.

and it is sooooooo much fun it is unbelievable... and u know who you are playing with.

Well I played Diablo 2 for a short time (RSI-game :)) and there were to versions on Battle.Net:

1: Open Battle.net (50% cheaters with hacked stuff)
    2: Closed Battle.net:

Never play open, there are very much hackers.

The best thing you can have is a group of friends who like to play BG2 too, in that case you can play a TCP/IP game with the person with the fastest connection as server, and no hackers.

[IMG] I played DIABLO online for hours and hours and hours. There was a group - jeez I've forgotten the name - but all non cheaters - hell there were people who played online but wouldn't accept any item unless they had picked it up themselves. It was great. Nothing like doing a nightmare run of Diablo and having to really rely on the other members of your party!

I'd love to do BG2 online . . . if there are people here who would like to set something up I'd definately be interested. . . I am in the USA and although nothing specifically tells me I think this is a UK site ??

    Let me know . . .

Actually it's a pretty much international community. The whole thing (all site content and setup) derives from Slovenia, Europe (that's where I'm from), but the servers the whole thing is running on are in California.

People... are from all over the world. ;)

LAN/modem seems better because you know who you're playing with. I've recently started a 1 to 1 modem adventure (2 chars each) and I seem to waste lots of time chatting and "getting into character"
