What is your favorite race?

Hello, this is of course, Magus Dregoth Anaraque with yet another question. This time it is 'what is your favorite race?' Answer and tell me why I, and I will be grateful. Thanks in advance for all who answer.

My favorite race is elf, for obvious reasons. The bonus on dexterity is very important, especially when you usually use someone who excels in melee combat. Well, I am done with my polls tonight, I will reply some other messages now. Peace.

I play races I most identify with, which usually ends up Half-Elf. They are usually shunned by the Elves and looked upon warily by the humans. They tend to be loners, just like me.

 

Magus, if i'd go for a character that excels in melee, i'd rather go for hitpoints and attack-bonus: Strenght and Constitution. So that would be a Half-Orc.

I don't like the warriors as much as I did when starting the whole BG-lot and choose Archers more often. So I'd say Elves are my favourite race, since they get a bonus to their dex and to longbows. I like the role-playing part of being an Elf, too.

 

I adore dwarfes they are just so cool! But I never find me playing one, I just have a hard time identifying with them. I usually ends up as a human or a halfelf depending if I mulitclass or not. But dwarfes rule!!

 

Aye me like Dwarves I mean, look at the other options:

Human - Everyone's a human, you wan't to be different than everybody else no?
Elf - Treehugging Pansy... No thank you.
HalfElf - Even better, a unoriginal treehugger.
Halfling - Who want's to be not only small but weak?
Halforc - I like my vocabulary having more than: 'Grunt' and 'Smash'

On the more serious note I like dwarves because they make good fighters (Barbarians/Berserkers) and can multi nicely (Cleric/Thief). Nothing beats a good pint of Dwarven Ale!

 

Hmm, can't remember when my main character was anything else than a human so...human.

 

Faragorn, you forgot the Best Race Ever tm, Gnomes!!

They are Clever, and very tricky!
Best class is the Gnomish Illusionist/Thief.
With 19 Int they rock!!

I'd have to agree with Master of Nuhn because i will choose the race that best suits whichever class i intend to play. Call me a powergamer if you want but it's how i like to play.

Bonzo, it's as logical from a powergamer's point of view, as well as a roleplayer's point of view. I mean, hell. Dwarves should be fighters. Elves should be Archers/Mages/Sorcerers. Gnomes and Halflings go for Thief/Mage. Etcetera. A Gnomish fighter doesn't make much sense from a RP's point of view, unless you're into strange combo's ofcourse *cough*halflingpaladin*cough*

Edit: Oh and gnomes? Like I said. Who want's to be short and weak? Intelligence? When my axe slices you into 2 pieces in one swing, the only thing you'll be thinking is "Damn I wish I were a halforc"

I usually play as a half-elf or elf. I don't have a particular reason I guess I'm just fond of the ears.

No offense people, but being a gnome, halfling, dwarf, or half-orc is kinda degrating. Gnomes, garden gnomes, short, all-out irritating. Halfling, short, stubby, mini-humans. Dwarf, language like an uneducated human, hairy, and the women are bulky. Half-orc, dumb, stinky, and kinda loud.
I am gonna stick with human, half-elf, and elves, but I don't mind how you people play that is just my opinion. Peace.

No, it is just my opinion, of course I am not racist about them, they are funny, but I don't like making them, they are okay such as Korgan. I never make anything but an elf, human, or half-elf party. If you think I am racist I will, I will, I will, Mommy, the big meanie called me a racist.

 

I'm a little surprised that people choose races other than human on the basis that they can relate to them better. I mean, you are all human, right? Are you saying you relate better to imaginary friends than to real ones? I think a little therapy may be in order...

Personally, I choose a race based on which one is most fun to play. Since I like to dual class, I commonly play human. When I play a multi-class character, I usually go with F/M, F/T or F/M/T, so I go for elf or half-elf. Since all the female romances are with an elf or half-elf, and I stick with a race than can play any romance scenario, that also helps direct my choice.

But of course, I still have to admit that dwarves rule -- especially fat ones.
