[IMG] I haven't downloaded it yet, waiting patiently for TOB compatibility. But I am looking ahead and as a browsed the kits I came up with a question that wasn't addressed in the FAQ. I could assume, but just to be sure I will ask...

In BG2 if you have adequate stats you can dual a kit to another class. Is this possible in TDD or because of implementation thrown out?

this will sound really cocky probably...

but why didn't you post this on the TDD boards??? or read the TDD boards? or search them?

you tell people to do that on this board every day... try it yourself on the TDD boards. Perhaps it would help ;)

well, I would assume he posted here for the same reasons he (we all) posts here about baldurs gate (2) and not the official bioware forums.

Although, of course, I concede your point Deano.

[IMG] Slaps his head* Gee why didn't I think of that...well I did oh and btw thanks for forgeting to answer my question.

Last night I want to TeamBG website to do just that, guess what it was down. So upon further search I went to the Darkest Day's website and read the FAQ and guess what it didn't answer my question. I went to a message board at that site, apparently its a new one becuase there weren't that many posts, I read the ones on the page, still no answer to my question. I considered becoming a member to type my question there but guess what, I came here because I know this place better and it happened to be up and running and a whole lot friendlier!

Now, back to my question

    no

BigB... i said the TDD forums, not TeamBG. TDD has always been up... try visiting it once in a while.

As for your question, you can Duel Class with certain Kits i believe. I don't know which ones though for certain. But there are definately quite a few from which you can do this i believe.

i do apologise for being annoying about it, it just seems silly to ask it around here, when there is a forum especially made for this type of question. ;)

[IMG] Well I did and have in the past scouted out the forums and quite frankly that just ain't like it is here. 'Nuff said. No discussing it here is not silly. The target audience is BG2 players who have or may potentially have TDD, and there are plenty of them around here.

By all means PLEASE ask and discuss TDD questions here (as long as it is ok with Tal). I don't want to go to another board, I like it here!

[IMG] I like it more here too! no offence to the people at teambg, but their forum is just all grey and bland and uninviting.. is all nice and peaceful and blue and come-inny here... About stats on TDD, i was fiddling about with it this morning, and noticed that even though the kit description said that a kit - can't remember which one - need min this and min that in stats, but it when it came to the roll and the play it didn't make any difference to the character..

tell you what Big, if you rephrase your question so that someone with an Int score of 3, like myself can understand it -maybe giving an example I would be happy to test it for you with my game :)

[IMG] Of course it's ok. Preferrably with as little linking outside as possible. Deano, if you can answer a question, don't just post a link to TeamBG for it, but answer it yourself. We have TeamBG in our Related Links section and linked to on a number of pages on SP. We don't need an automatic linking engine to TeamBG whenever a topic concering anything from TeamBG arises. The point is that people asked the question here, and if it all possible, they should get an answer here.

so basically Tal you don't want to be linked to anywhere else?!!!

there is a forum for this, that is especially made for this kind of conversation. I cannot see the point in bringing it into the SP Forums all the time.

Maybe if you want to discuss TDD make a new forum for it or something, but i still cannot see the point in all this. If TeamBG made a new forum why not use it? It's a forum, people won't bite if you just use the same ettiquete that you use here eh?

and now i am not supposed to post links? what is the damned point of even having the feature in the forum software then?

i get fed up of being harassed into all this. I am trying to be helpful by steering people to a place that is more useful, yet I get moaned at by people. Is that the thanks i get?

[IMG] *Shouts to Spudsquisher over a certian somebody's whinning* ;) Sorry if the question wasn't clear. What I meant is in BG2 you can dual a kit to a class but not a class to a kit. So my question was and is can you dual a TDD kit to a BG2 class? Or because of implications and implementations this was left out. And if some can and some can't well which ones can't?

Good golly there are links to TeamBG *all* over this site. What is the problem?

All we're saying Deano is that you've posted the links to TeamBG and the TDD forum there several times already, so people should be aware of it by now.

For whatever reason people don't want to use the TeamBG forum, so they ask their question here; why try to force them to get their answer from a place they don't want to go?

If you know the answer, post it; if you don't, I think you can assume people know of the TeamBG forum, and will use it if they want to.

[This is a direct reply to Deano, when I started writing it there were none before mine ;)]

Oh, this is the thanks I got as well, so don't sound so wounded. (Not so long ago, remember?) But for your info, we have a rule here about posting a link to a site here ONCE, anything more is spam. You still seem to be ignoring the Forum Rules... TeamBG has been an exception here in this case, as you can probably notice since no one said a word to you and you probably posted 20 links for it in the last couple of days. But enough's enough.

If I wanted to have a link to SP on TeamBG I'd have to register and post in a special forum just for links to sites. I don't know why it's so hard for you to understand that since we don't have a separate forum just for links here that we try to keep linking outside down to a minimum?

As for the "I am trying to be helpful by steering people to a place that is more useful, yet I get moaned at by people. Is that the thanks i get?", what on Earth did you expect? That I'll encourage you to lead as many people as possible away from here? I wonder what the reaction would be if I started to flood the TeamBG forums with links to SP. I doubt anyone'd be pleased.
The link to download TDD I have on the site goes directly to the TDD site. People have to actually go there to be able to download it. So you can't even come up with an excuse that people who download it don't know where it came from, or that there are forums for it there, etc.
And if they wanted to post there, they would. They obviously don't, otherwise they wouldn't post here. Get it?

As for "there is a forum for this, that is especially made for this kind of conversation. I cannot see the point in bringing it into the SP Forums all the time."

Belive it or not, there are forums for all the games we cover here. And that's official ones. So you see how silly that comment of yours is? It's as if when people asked a question about BG2 here, someone'd come along and post a link to the official BG2 boards. Well duh, it kinda beats the point of having our own forums then, doesn't it?

As I explained, DSotSC has been discussed in the BG1 forum, and TDD can be discussed here, as long as it's not ToB compatible. Then people using it with ToB will have to post in the ToB forum. Simple as that. If you can help by actually answering questions instead of just linking out, great. If you can't, don't bother. I and the mods always link out/reply themselves if there's no alternative, or if no one would reply to the topic with any relevant info.

But don't come here just to post links or tell people to go to the TDD site. None of the more than 2000 members here has a habit of linking to the official forums for the games we cover here, but always tries to answer it on his/her own. That's the point of fan forums, not just saying "Look, go to the official forums, it's all there.".

i posted links on BIS/GameBanshee/Ironworks exactly the same as here, and got no complaints whatsoever.

So i get the feeling that i am not welcome here! i know that isn;t true, but it can feel like it. I dislike the whole "lets get Deano he posted a link" thing. If i had known it would offend you so much, i wouldn't have bothered in the first place.

I think the reason Deano is saying what he is is that people are posting information about TDD here that becomes something of an unanswered issue. Incorrect or no answers are givem and thus in the end, the posting here makes TDD look bad or more problkematic than it deserves to be labelled. It also has to do with the *real* bugs in TDD. If you all keep to yourself here and don't bring your issues to the TDD board (which is the TDD team's mechanism for bug reporting/tracking) then you are not helping them nor yourself.

    *cheers*

[IMG] Deano & Ken - you make it sound as if any of the questions about TDD (or anything TeamBG-related) have not been answered here... I can't think of one that we didn't manage to solve one way or another. So I don't see your point really. If no one had a clue about TDD, ok, sure, but there are enough people here that can help when help is needed. If all else fails, we link to TeamBG, always.

Btw Deano... A quick analysis of the boards you mentioned.

BIS - official boards, everything & anything goes unless it's so offensive it has to be deleted.

GameBanshee - fan forums with so much activity that no one is able to control ANYTHING at all. (Nor tries to.) When "moderation" occurs there, topics with 500 replies get deleted. I'm talking from experience, since SP has been a "victim" of the lawlesness and anarchy of that forum. Again, nothing you could post there would bother anyone, even if it was offensive.

Ironworks - don't even get me started. Ironworks stole the whole Torment section from our site and copy/pasted it on their site with my descriptions, links and downloads directly from SP, and then had the nerve to ask ME to link to "their" Torment section. Guess why they don't have a Torment section anymore?
Again, no one gives a rat's ass what you post there.

Boards O' Magic, however, are an entirely different collection of forums. We have many rules, and execute them at all times. If people don't comply, they are warned, if they still don't do it our way, stronger measures are taken. This prevents the boards from becoming a playground for spammers, l33t script kiddies, flamers and the rest of the kind you can find on most other forums. Sure, there are exceptions there as well, but the bad kind prevails. Here it's the other way around. We have our black sheep, but the majority of people & conversations are on a much higher level than in the other similar forums.

So try to understand where I'm coming from, and why do we try to keep it this way. Everyone playing by the rules is of paramount importance.

    okay Tal

i have apologised for my behaviour now, and i just wish to stop all this. I can understand your point of view on this, i just assumed the links would be more helpful that is all.

The thing is, a lot of people will end up posting the same questions about TDD again and again, which is annoying. And i am sure you know the feeling about getting fed up by people asking the same questions over and over. I just assumed it would be useful to link to a site that had the answers already ;)

i shall refrain from this in future if that is your desire.

i didn't realise about Ironworks actually, and i didn't find the forum all that friendly anyway.

i know how much you dislike Spam, and i know the same feelings on TeamBG (even though i am not Ken or a moderator at all) as people tend to ask the smae questions even if they are listed in the FAQs or something. So i can understand your frustration.

on a light note... i posted a thanks to you in the Whatnots forum. Hehe, you have put up with *me*... you deserve it :D
