Any which way they come. Roasties in Goose dripping are particularly fine (Concorde is a particularly good roasting potato) and Pink Fir Apple's make a smashing potato salad.

Haven't tried potato wine yet, but Parsnip is good.

Shame how few you actually get in the shops (Out of more than 4000 varieties), but here's a few for starters

Ragusa: I had heard that they are calles Crisps elsewhere. In North America, they call them chips. For the same language, it can sure get complicated...

Sour Cream and Onion Ruffles are the best. Enough said. Cajun Pringles also are pretty good, and they pack a respectable punch.

One brand of chips I sorely miss is Humpty Dumpty's "Extreme" lineup. The buffalo wings ones were drool-worthy, and the spicy tomatoes? So burning hot they brought tears to my eyes.

And who can forget Doritos. I sorely miss Taco Bell Doritos. I even signed a petition to try and bring them back!

Sometimes I like them simply cooked in skins, then peeled, with some salt and butter.

Actually, as much as I like potato crisps/chips, I tend to agree with Rotku - the preparation tends to reduce the amount of actual potato in the end product.

I lean more toward Sour Cream & Bacon Ruffles, myself.

Fries/Taters/Wedges are a staple for me...usually because I cook loads of them for work and it's just simpler to go over to the cafeteria and order something I made when I'm taking a break.

Baked potatoes on a 'fancy dinner' occasion, mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes fairly commonly; and as a treat every now and again, my wife will use the potato pancake recipe Kuemper gave her (thanks to you and your German ancestors, K!).

Aldazar? We've got something similar to that at work; mass-produced 'Potato Latakes' - shredded potato with a little egg & flour to hold things together and some almost unnoticeable spices like onion power, etc. - they're formed in 'cakes' similar in shape to a Scotch pie, and baked and shipped to us frozen.

As you said, smother them with sauce (I liked a mix of butter and grated Parmesan cheese :yum:) since they taste pretty flat.

The traditional toppings for potato latkes are applesauce and sour cream. :p

Hash browns, home fries, roasted, baked in the jacket, mashed, boiled in soup/stew, en casserole, kugel... potatoes are just plain Good Eats.

You'd think so, but don't tell the Americans that. We Canadians are just hoping that the Americans are amused by Rick Mercer, becasue if they took offence, then we'd be in real trouble...

    Chev,
excellent choice - and with raw salted herring and chopped onions, too!

    Gnarff,
I guess I know, what again did Monty Python say about them Chinese?

My dad sometimes makes up these fried potatoes and puts a load of herbs and spices on them. Dont' ask me what on Earth he uses, because I'm not sure even he could tell you, but I'm pretty sure garlic is involved somewhere along the line. Whatever it is, it's awesome! Perhaps I'll get him to make a note of what he does the next time he makes them.

Also, not much has been said about potato salad - one of my favourite ways to have potatoes. Spring onions and plenty of mayonnaise! :D

Had an awesome-tasting potato dish in the bistro at work a fwe months ago actually, just remembered it, was some kind of ground-potato pancake type thing with all sorts of spices in it and worcestershire sauce...damn nice, Fijian origin iirc, keep meaning to ask the chef for the recipe but never seem to be able to catch him. Anyone here got any ideas what it might be from that limited description?

As a Belgian, in the home of the (ironically called) 'Frensh' Fries, I can't but vote for fried. :p

All but wine (never had it) or raw. I would have checked of "stuffed" (a combiniation of mashed and baked) as well, but it wasn't listed as a choice.

Oh yeah, potato latkes rule! :yum:

Gasp! What, in no form whatsoever?

On reflection, I should have included an option for that.

Heh, if you want confusing come here. Here you'll find some people calling crisps chips, some calling fries chips, some calling them both chips, and some who alternate between the two.

Anyway, to stay on topic, potatos, how ever they are had, should be eaten with the skin. I guess I could excuse the liquid forms from that statement.

What? You mean you don't have potato drinks over there? Coke has a great new range of drinks over here with various potato flavours.

Was more refering to vodka and potato wine.
