I'm playing as a mage for the 1st time, and I'm wondering what is the value of travelling with a familliar.

Be'elzebub, my NE Kensai/Mage, travels with Luc, a right mean Dust Memphit. But, it seems the main thing is keeping the little guy out of danger, at the risk of losing a point of CON during any battle.

Any insights into the long-term value of little Luc?

    Put him in your backpack.

The only time I've ever used a familiars power is the one that casts Invisibility 10' Radius.

Keep it secret... keep it safe!

Free HP... that's about all that does any good. Some can scout for you with good hide in shadows and another can pick-pockets; that's about the extent that I use them.

LN gets you a ferret, which is good if you want to pickpocket.
CN gets you a cat, which can be used as a scout and for pickpocketing.

Yeah the odd spell and a bit of backup whilst still in Irenicus' dungeon, other than that keep it in your backpack (1st slot) - if your inventory is full and you're given a quest item you may be lucky enough to drop it somewhere (outcome->bonus hp without loosing an inventory slot)

Ferrets really are thieves, the little b*****s! My fella has two and he's forever losing things like remotes and keys and then finding them in the ferrets' cage...

As for the question, no, never really had a use for mine, it just stayed in the backpack.

You can also talk to your familiar for advice according to the chapter you are in. But that's about it.

You can abuse your familiar, and you won't end up like Mikey Vick.

    good answers?

Are the familiars answers good enough to be a reason to have one?

Rabain at Border Kingdoms has a mod to enhance familiars. Eventually, to enhance their conversation, too.

WTP = World Transition Project, if I'm not mistaken.

I have no idea unless it was going to be integrated into the World Transition Project. Either that or there are two WTPs.

The imp can polymorph into a mustard jelly, which can then be used to soak up spells.
