Hello everyone, this is the first time I post in here, I have a question for which I couldn't find answer by searching old topics so I'm asking here. If it's been already said somewhere I didn't see, please just point me there and close the thread...

    Here is the question:

I am planning to start a new SoA-ToB game from scratch. I have played it just once before, long time ago, and that time, for reasons too long to be explained here, I started a game in a very slack way and abandoned it halfway through. This time I intend to start with an imported (and quite powerful, if I may say so myself...;)) protagonist and explore thoroughly all the possibilities of the game, which for me includes romancing Jaheira, for which my character had a crush back in BGI ;). Now, I have read that the Jaheira script is quite buggy and I was planning to download Manveru's improevd script. But I noticed also that, in the documentation for the patch 24698 for ToB, there is a "Jaheira romance fix" listed. So, my questions are: 1) the improved script is stil needed if I install the patch? 2) are there any compatibility problems between the patch and the improved script?

Incidentally, the same question applies to the various "Experience Cap Remover" mods I have spotted around. Many of them state that they will provide extensions to level-related abilities of characters; are there any problems in installing one of them (any: I'm open to suggestions here...) on top of the patch?

Thanks in advance to any good-hearted soul that will provide me some light. ;)

If you want to experience a bug-free Jaheira romance, install BG2Fixpack after the official patch and before other mods.

For Experience Cap Removal and other tweaks, try BG2Tweaks - I think it's the most popular mod out there, bar none. As of now, it features nearly in each user's mod installation log.

Pocket Plane modlist links to all other BG/BG2 mods, including Tutu and EasyTutu, the mod which allows you to play BG1(and Jaheira) in BG2 engine.

(And BG1 NPC adds some fan-made material to Jaheira, Khalid and other characters in BG1).

Not entirely sure whether the patch fixes all the Jaheria problems, but I suspect not. It is generally advised to play with either Baldurdash:
    http://www.baldurdash.org/
    or
    the BGII Fixpack:
    http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg2fixpack/

Either one will install numerous fixes beyond those supplied by the patch. They, along with all WEIDU mods, are not only compatible with the official patch, but should be installed after it. There is a small debate as to which one is better to use (some modders are not in favour of the BGII Fixpack), but you probably won't notice all that much of a difference. I personally use the Fixpack, as it is much more up-to-date than Baldurdash (which was last updated in 2003).

In regard to EXP Cap removers: there shouldn't be a problem with installing one after the patch and whichever fixpack you go for.

Your installation order should look something like this:
    SoA
    ToB
    Official ToB patch
    Baldurdash/Fixpack
Other WEIDU mods (eg. exp cap removers, NPCs, additional quests and so on)

Hope that was of some help to you.

Edit: Kulyok beat me to it.

Unless you'd be playing with Improved Anvil mod (a really hard and gameenhancing mod - for some ;) ) then I'd recommend the BG2Fixpack and not Baldurdash.

PPG doesn't list a number of mods that are on SP, so check SP first.

Whoa! Didn't believe I'd get so many good advice in such a short time. Thanks everyone!

I think I got the bottom of it, I'll try the FixPack I think, and possibly the BG2Tweaks (is it possible to select just some of the tweaks for the actual installation?).

Thanks everyone again and see soon, since I plan to stick around this forum for the time being...;)

Yes, all components of BG2Tweaks are optional.

Oh, that's definitely an oversight, if we do: sorry about that. I'll check anything that might be missing right away, thank you for mentioning it!

Though then again, modlist has mods SP doesn't. By the way, to all users out there: if you know of, or just released, a mod that may be missing from the modlist, please, submit your listing to modlist administrators.

And when you've done that you'll soon learn that Talutain can't do all the work by himself, so PPG gets updated a lot faster (this is my experience) and sometimes catches great mods I never heard of anywere else :)

Off-topic, but neither list is 100% complete or up to date unfortunately. Both are still managed by humans, not robots. :shake:

Speaking of which, I'd welcome some help with getting the missing mods listed on SP. We're only missing a few non-BG2 ones, and a few more in the BG2 section. If anyone's interested, PM me.
