i'm having trouble installing mods

    When i extract check the bodies and unfinished business the little black window would come up then it would say failure: dialog.

    Also when i tried to install G3 anniversary mod and sword and fist mod they would they both keep going through the same files a bunch of times and wouldn't install. Any help is appreciated thankyou

    Two separate problems :)

    1. The "can't find dialog.tlk": the mod is not being installed into your game directory. I generally extract the mod to the desktop, let it fail with this error, then move the mod into my game directory (BGII - SoA or BaldursGateTutu forlder) and run the "setup-NameOfModHere.exe" so that I can look at the readme and make sure I know what I am installing first.

    Also, check that the files are not "nested" -

    some older mods ship in .rar format inside of a floder, like this:

    [folder:MyModNamev25.1A]>[folder:MyModName] + Setup-MyModName.exe

    and they need to be installed with this structure instead:

    [folder:MyModName] + Setup-MyModName.exe

    2. WeiDU v204 is new and improved and has an automatic update built in. G3 mods have shipped/currently ship with a special .bat file that does the same thing, because older versions of WeiDU neewded to do this manually (hence the .bat file). This puts WeiDU in a mini perpetual loop. If it doesn't clear itself, kill the process. Then doubleclick on the "setup-bg2tweaks.exe" again and the mod should install fine.

    We are working through the process at G3 to clean up the mods shipping with the .bat autoupdates, but it will be awhile before everythng is updated (and mod versions left around on harddrives are not rebuilt) so I suspect you will not be alone in having this trouble.

    Yep, I had the exact same thing (loops) happen to me about a week ago. I just hit esc and ran the setup again, hoping that I wouldn't run into problems. Glad to hear my hunch was correct. :)

    As far as the first problem goes, I only ran into it with winrar compressed files. If I got that error, I just extracted the files to the SOA directory, and ran setup from there. (Which pretty much gives the same end result as cmorgan's approach.)

    thanks a lot for the help guys I still couldn't get cto to work but I got everything else to, i'll try it for my next game.
