An old SP pal of mine, Jurts, sent me a link to an alternative portrait pack for Jaheira:

    http://rydia.net/cliffetium/downloads/bg2stuff.html

I'll admit to being of mixed feelings regarding this. The day you hear me say she's anything less than the most beautiful woman on the face of Faerun will be the day when ... Well, it won't happen. I've often visualized how she'd look with her hair down. The new portraits are hardly sore on the eyes. But ...

I've also grown accustomed to Jaheira's "cornrow thingie". In a way, it seems more consistent with her role in life as a druid. It also seems eminently practical for someone who can handle herself in a physical confrontation (unlike Aerie, usually :p ). And it certainly doesn't dampen her looks any, IMO.

So, here's a poll with multiple choices. I've made a genuine effort to accommodate all tastes (and yes, including you Eze ;) ).

Poll Results: Jaheira: best set of portraits for her (42 votes.)

Jaheira: best set of portraits for her (Choose 1)
    * I love the newer pack. An already beautiful woman is made simply divine by letting her hair down. - 21% (9)
    * I prefer the official portrait pack. It seems more in character for Jaheira, and she's no less lovely for it. - 33% (14)
    * Jaheira's beautiful no matter what you do with her hair. I can't make up my mind between the two portrait packs. - 5% (2)
    * For some reason, I like her BG1 portraits better than anything else. - 29% (12)
    * All this is pointless, she's ugly and no amount of playing around with the portrait packs will change that. - 7% (3)
    * I'm really undecided. - 5% (2)

[IMG] Not to hurt your feelings, but... I don't really see what's so beautiful about her. I think her portrait is cool, she looks just as harsh as she is in the game at times... Just got a thing for the difficult ladies in the game I think. This with me not seeing her "divine beauty" could have something to do with the fact that I'm a girl... Nope, to worship Viconia makes much more sense to me when it comes to looks.

I like the official pack better, but I think that her BG1 pic suits her better. She really doesn't look German (or whatever accent she has) in her BG2 pic.

Personally I like the BG1 picture the best but in terms of the BG2 photos I prefer the official photo. My main objection to the new photo is that the new hair's darkness tends to draw attention away from the facial features. Also, the new hair looks rather flat and bland to me.

[IMG] I don't think the new hair looks as good as it could.

(check out Anomens' Mohawk though! Edwina looks quite good, they should have put that in the game, a portrait change.)

Hate the new hair. It's the whole Sandra Bullock look. Doesn't do anything for me.

While I do like the original BG 2 portrait much more, I wouldn't say she's ugly, just not as beautiful (or interesting) as Viconia. So yes, I prefer the regular portrait. BUT. I love that Edwina picture!!!

She´s alot hotter with her new hair.

Although, Anomen in a mohawk turned some weird weels inside of me

Hate the new one (I agree with AFI). Prefer BG1, but there's nothing wrong with BGII

I actually like all 3 of Jaheira's pics. If I had to rank them, however, I'd have to say:

    - BG1
    - BG2
    - hair down

In regards to the other pics, Anomen without the goatee-thing going looks hideous. Not that I'm a fan of the silly-assed things in the first place but if someone is going to change his facial appearance without the goatee, then they should completely redo the face. The goatee suits that particular image. And I won't even begin to discuss the mohawk image.

And I LOVE the Edwina image!

Actually I liked Jaheira's BG portrait, even if it doesn't look like her in my imagination at all.

But the hair down one isn't like her style or what. I prefer the cornrows as they are more practical.

I prefer the original portrait better...due to the fact that most of the women's portraits in bg2 have some sort of "ties" or something in their hair, some more than others"cough" Aerie "cough" if you look im sure you will notice that. IMO The original hair just seems to suit jaheira better.

First, BG1 and BG2 portraits of Jaheira don't look like pictures of the same person.

Different type of hair. Different colour of hair. Different colour of eyes (hazel to brown in 1, green in 2). Different shape of eyes (1 aren't diagonal). Different length of ears (with the length from 2, the tips should be visible in 1). Different shape of lips. Different breasts. They could be sisters, but that's all.

The new one portrait has yet another type of hair. Neither like 1, nor like 2. Not fitting Jaheira. Not fitting the angle at which the face is looking (the hair looks as though she were chin down while she's chin up a bit).

    Edwina is pretty :D

[IMG] I think I prefer the original portrait, though the combination is good.

I really like the Edwina one though, that would have looked great in the game :)

Chevalier, your notice of Jaheira's hair color change reminded me of Oscar Wilde's play, "The Importance of Being Earnest":

Lady Bracknell: "I'm sorry if we are a little late, Algernon, but I was obliged to call on dear Lady Harbury. I hadn't been there since her poor husband's death. I never saw a woman so altered; she looks quite twenty years younger."

Algernon: "I hear her hair has gone quite gold from grief."
