There, there, Flix. Though I understand your frustration. Don't know if this happened where you are but last year on Easter weekend (can't remember the date) there was a hard freeze across the southeastern US, including here, that wiped out a lot of crops, foliage, and wild plants that the local fauna depend on. These out of season cold snaps are awful.

I send sympathetic thoughts your way. All we're having is rain, which, despite some flood threats in the wider area, is much needed - East Tennessee is still about 15 inches behind over the last 12 months.

I remember the good ol' days when I was the oldest (confessed) member of SP. And now, there's revmaf, Nakia and Old One (and maybe some others who I can't recall right now) who are older than me. I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad.

A lot of the people who were supposed to come tonight have flaked out... so it's me, the housemate, my friend & my brother.

I should get moving and get the supplies for tonight...

And to think that when I signed up I was worried I'd be the oldest member in a gaming forum and the other members would be a bunch of teenagers. :shake: (For the record, I'm 43.)

Hah! Young punks these days. Why, I was 43 when I started this poll, which might have started the age confessional train rolling. And Harbourboy has kept it going with his Order of Ancientness polls.

And yes, I'll be 48 next week.

Back in June, I bought a video card, but on two attempts last fall, nobody could get it to work. Today, I went to the store I got my ram chips from and they put the card in for me--and they got it to work!

So now I think I have my computer upgraded as far as is feasible (I could get a bit more RAM, but I'm at the point of diminishing returns as I'd be pulling out older chips to put in newer chips), so I should be good for a few years...

Err, you're kidding, right? Remove the old drivers, delete the videocard in the peripheral manager (or something like that), shutdown the machine, remove the old card, pop in the new one, power it back on, and watch as the new one is detected. Fire up the drivers and you're good to go.

I upgraded my housemate's old FX5200 to a X1650Pro recently, and did exactly what I described above and didn't encountered a single hitch. Easy work, nice payoff.

    Ugh... My foot itches!

In other news, I put in for the production maintenance job that's opening up in two weeks. It's going to be a stiff competition since everyone who's currently going to school for an electronics degree wants the job. As far as I know there's me and one other guy on my shift that are the "favored"... :rolling:

Naw, Ziad, AFAIK, he's f'rnch-c'nadian, from the planet Zwoorg :alien:

All those extra working-hours I've done has made so tired and relaxed, that I'm spewing obscenely bad puns, oneliners and whatnots from my mouth at work and I just can't help it  I'm in a constant state of both embarrassment and not giving a flying toot how bad rep I'm getting and what others are thinking and what kind of stupid office clown I'm making myself.

I'll just go and shed some clown's tears now, allright :hahaerr:

Well, all of us of advanced years experience that sometimes, and it is very annoying, I agree.

After two days of rain everything in my office smells musty - I need to mention this to the maintenance guy, I bet there's a leak somewhere.

I have plans for a massive leave of absence later this summer - I sure hope they pan out. There's a vague program in place for sabbaticals but I don't actually qualify for that.

I need to keep babbling, though, if I'm ever to reach that magic 1,000 mark.

There are .pdf hand outs to read
    .iso files to burn
    .exe files to play
    .mp3 files to listen

All just waiting for me, and I'm still here, at .php

    Babbling is priceless.

If life were a computer game I would be rich by now.... sigh... I would also probably have a lot of ripped friends with swords and armour.
