Uh, this is a long shot but... what are you opening the ini file in? Try Notepad if you're not already using that.

I think I had this problem with Wordpad...

I've only seen this sort of message under Win2k, and it was usually the result of file/volume security going screwie.

If not, then it could be one the o/s processes getting muddled up and a lack of resources.

Does it happen even after a reboot? and what o/s are you using?

    Probably a long shot, but:

Are you opening up the baldur.ini file on the CD? That would explain the error message. You have to make changes to the one in the baldur's gate folder on your hard drive.

If the brackets did not denote an example, I would suggest getting rid of them. You only need the quotation marks inside of the parentheses.

    The syntax is ...

    CLUAConsole:CreateItem("SCRL9G",1)

If you're only making one, you don't need the ',1' after the parentheses, just FYI.

If i was to guess, You are most likely using either Windows 2000 and have privledges removed to write to that file, or that your file is dumb. Most likely you need to change your privledges, right click the file properties, click security, and click the head, everyone(asuming this is how urs is set up) and click the check box for full control. hope this helps.
