Do Halflings less damage in general or just unarmed as a monk?

    Edit:

Of course assumed they have the same strength and weapon as the bigger races.

And since medium sized weapons count as big weapons for a Halfling do Halflings get the 1.5 str modifier when the use such weapons two-handed?

Seems like hardly anybody in this forum ever played ROMD. It is hard to get answers to gameplay questions here.

I think a lot tried it out, but didn't like it. One of the primary complaints is the game chooses feats for you dependant on class. Another complaint is the party must stay together -- no sending the halfling rogue to scout ahead. Those and other issues turned off many here on the boards. They didn't bother me though.

Yes and no. Halflings do less damage because of their lower strength. Medium sized weapons are two-handed weapons for halflings. There are really no benefits for using halflings in the game -- 3rd edition rules really shorted the halfling (:D).

Then I don't understand why the board is still quite active. This thread has gotten 75 views bevor its first answer(by you). Why do people read on this board when they don't like ROMD? Just to complain about the game? This post by me, which wasnt about the gameplay, http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46840 had 10 entries in one day.

PS: Halflings don't have to have less strength then the other races, you can start with 16 str while another fighter may start with 14 or 16 str too.

Thats why I added to my last post
I ment less damage the way halfling monks get their damage malus. Halfling monks do bare handed 2d6 damage at level 20 while monks from other races do 1d20. I asked if Halflings get a damage cut no matter what their strength or weapon is, just like they do as monks.

Thanks for your answer, I felt quite lost on this board with my gameplay questions.:)

True, but the penalty for increasing the strength even to 14 is ridiculous for a halfling -- 16 is just makes the character too one dimensional. I prefer more even attribute distributions and use the level ups to make the character excel (that and the barrels). Also, they really don't have the same weapons (except small weapons). Using a medium weapon as a two handed weapon is okay for additional strength damage, but does not do the same damage as a large weapon (in general). For example, compare a longsword versus a greatsword, or battle axe versus great axe. I think the monk damage is just an extension of this.

The most damaging weapons I've found and seen on equipment-lists so far, are 1-handed weapons. I haven't seen better weapons than the +3 double damage "Massive Club" and the +5 Artoth's Bane double damage Waraxe yet. Both are 1-handed.
