Two or so weeks ago, I got the urge to play Baldur's Gate again, so I installed it and the TotSC expansion and started playing. I beat it a few times quickly, then wanted a challenge, so I made a Fighter/Mage/Cleric, got something to remove the experience cap, and promised myself that I wouldn't keep anyone else in my 'party' other then my own character. So after a week of playing through the main plot (and countless deaths), I got to the battle with Sarevok in the temple.

I killed him, watched the end movie and the credits and all that. Well, after that I decided to go back to the main maps through my Auto-Save (placed me at the doors outside the final temple) and I decided to go back and do the Tales quests. Another week goes by, (Durlag's Tower with one character and standard equipment is pretty frustrating) and finally I've cleared everything else in the game.

So I run back to the final temple, and when I go inside, the movie showing the inside of the temple keeps repeating. When the movie ends, about 5 seconds go by and then it just plays again. I manage to make my way to the platform and I see that Sarevok and the other final battle bosses aren't there. The doom guards do spawn near the coffin things, and the traps still trigger, but the bosses just wont appear and the movie keeps repeating.

I don't know whats wrong, I've tried loading from the Final Save file, my quick save file, and from the Auto-Save file (again, places me outside at the temple doors). Every time I go back in, the movie just repeats again and again, no matter where I load from. I haven't tried reinstalling, because I doubt that it would fix the problem.

Has this happened before? Or does anyone know what could be wrong?

I haven't used any form of cheats other then the experience cap remover.

PS: Does anyone know any other challenging character selections? The character I am using is well great balanced, and has taken alot of work, but it is now powerful enough to take down practically everything in the game alone, defeating the purpose of the entire character creation.

Do you have the official TotSC patch installed?

This? If so, I don't believe I do.

If that's not what you're asking about, can you include a link?

You can find all the patches on SP too (here), but yes, that's the one. They fix a large amount of bugs so should be applied before you even start playing. Since these patches normally don't fix bugs already encountered you'll likely have to load a savegame from before you've entered that area to clear up the issue. But make sure that your game isn't prepatched already (most of the BG+TotSC collections are) - in such a case applying the patch again could be detrimental.

Thank you, that seemed to have fixed it.

Another victim of the "too many variables" bug... Check this thread if you want more details about what was causing the problem. I'm surprised none of the testers picked this one, as completing all the quests in BG+TotSC with the bug is impossible.
