I have it wrote down I'll see if I can find it, but yes wilderness lore is the way to go and there is several walkthroughs that detail how to get thru.

everyone can use wilderness lore. even if you don't have any skill in it. make sure you have WL ability in a quickslot, then keep clicking it (while paused) until it doesn't fail.

One tactic I heard was to drop an arrow at each field you visit, so that if you get turned back to that area, you know which path not to take. Its unreliable and annoying, but it gets you through. Personally, I think 8-10 pts in Wilderness Lore is sufficient with decent WIS. Try and get em.

Just use pen and paper to draw a map. Use your brain to decide how to to do it effectively. It doesn't take much effort.

    Agreed.

I never used wilderness lore nor put any points in it, and all my parties have had a druid.

A combination of the walkthrough and some wilderness lore (just one point invested by my druid) got me through it pretty easily.
