OK I have a mega mod installation, ranging from tactics/ascension to improved battles to SCS II and with many other NPC/romance and quest and tweak mods. I had official patch and G3 Fix pack.

I have a character Fighter 3/dual classed to Swashbuckler with the help of SK. I had him since the beginning of an Easy TuTu game, and now I am at the near end of SoA. Please note I also had Rogues Rebalancing and Song/Silence so Swashbuckler is revised, its THAC0 is equal to a fighter and he gets bonuses to AC per 10 lvls and such, as well as some to hit bonuses.

I never had a problem with this build up to now. I was trying to have the benefit of fast lvling swashbuckler with a fighter's grandmastery and exceptional strength bonuses. So I have given 4 proficiencies to scimitars when he was a lvl 1 fighter. At lvl 3, gave the new proficiency to scimitars again to become grand master in them. Since I had true grand mastery rules, that gave me +1 attack/round

(Why scimitars? Well, they are so cool looking and they are very versatile in BG2, ranging from scimitars to ninja tos and wakisashis...and there are very easy and cool ones to find:Belm +2 is a favourite and Scarlet Ninja To is cool with Use Any Item HLA, each giving +1 attack/round, which was the build's main theme:having as many attacks possible as a swashbuckler.)

And then I dualled into a thief. SKed to a proper swashbuckler. At lvl 1, I spent my initial proficiencies in two weapon style, and then specialised in shortswords, axes, and flails as I leveled up.

Right now, at lvl 25, my Fighter3/swashbuckler dual wields Scarlet Ninja To (with use any item HLA) and Defender of Eastheaven in off hand for resistances and AC. He has an impressive 4+½ attacks per round normally:1 normal+1 from off hand+1 from weapon's special ability+1 from grand mastery and +½ from specialisation. (they all stack) Needless to say, he has fighter THAC0 and with AC and to hit bonuses, plus faster lvling, he has proven to be a very capable melee fighter, suitable in both offensive and defensive roles. With detect illusions active, he is a mage bane, finding and eliminating them quickly. He can also set traps, which does massive damage for crowd control. Last but not least, he has highest pick pocket skill so I was literally swimming in gold, reaching 200 K quickly. (even it is forbidden to pickpocket from fences, selling an expensive item to a regular merchant, stealing it, and fencing it to a thief merchant again is still very useful...and I did not have any item-upgrade or new item-shop mods so money just started to pile up.)

Problem is, I chose whirlwind attack for his new HLA. When I use it though, an improved haste icon appears on his portrait, in addition to Whirlwind icon. However, when I check from character screen, my character only has 6 attacks/round when whirlwinding. Why? Isn't whirlwind supposed to SET number of attacks to 10/round, or I am missing some point? At this point, WW attack is obsolete as when properly improved hasted by my mage, my guy has an astounding 9 attacks/round which hits hard and fast. BUT WW sets my attacks to only 6!? Why? If it keeps like this I won't pick WW attack, but focus on evasion and trap skills. Umm, can I choose greater evasion more than once? It sounds a nice defensive skill when things get rough. Gotta try and see on next lvl up!

Anyway, any ideas and/or solutions to my predicament are welcomed. TIA.

This bug is caused by an unfixable engine issue.

Basically, weapons which grant additional attacks (such as Belm or Kundane) tend to mess up Whirlwind and Greater Whirlwind. If you unequip them, you should be able to get the specified 10 attacks per round.

Thank you for your quick and helpful answer!

:D OH! I see, I never knew about this bug...guess BG2 still has secrets even for the experienced. So I should drop Scarlet Ninja to, well, it contradicts with my build idea but I can equip the more powerful scimitars in ToB and use WW then.

By the by, being an avid fan of your Rogues Rebalancing mod, I realised the Cyric's Chosen encounter did not trigger today when I killed improved Bodhi (that was one heroic fight too, had to turn into Slayer to annihilate her in her second wind.) so I used CLUA command to create the test CRE and had the battle.

It was fun as I begged and started the combat this time. (has used persuasion in my first attempt.) the battle required several reloads, but with strategic timing and luck, I was able to trap them in a Time Stop and crush and incinerate them all with Dragon Breaths and many Abi Dalzim's...great battle, good loot! :thumb:

Yes, as aVENGER said, it's a bug with the weapons that add ApR (Belm, Kundane, Scarlet and the two throwing daggers).

The only workaround is to equip your swashie with the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization. That will give him 9 ApR under WW with these weapons and 10 if he dual-wields ;)

But probably it's better to take Usuno's blade from the 1st level of WK and use that with WW.

The CoC encounter no longer triggers immediately after killing Bodhi and exiting her crypt. It now occurs when you attempt to leave the Graveyard district i.e. just as the worldmap is about to activate. This was changed back in RR v3.8 as starting the encounter immediately after leaving Bodhi's crypt used to cause some issues with other mods.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
