[IMG] Tom Bombadil was a Bard! Come-on, he sang the entire time he was in the book!

P.S. Striders healing abilities at the end of the trilogy fits in w/ Baldurs Gate setup; He was a really high level Ranger, so he had som healing spells.

Tom Bombadil may have been a bard, but he seemed to have special powers and would be a much more powerful bard than you can get in BG - the bard character in BG seems to me a weak character. Saving the hobbits from the old willow three was one thing, but saving them from the barrow wights, opening the whole grave and exterminating all the wights...... how can a BG bard do that? Do they get Turn undead at high levels?

[IMG] Well in bg2TOB they get the use everything ability! Since Tom is verry old, he must have been so far! But I din't think you can get this ability in Bg...

But rangers do eventually have some healing skills. You surely can't have all skills the LotR character might have at the beginning, as converting to their nearest D&D equivalent characters such as Aragorn would never equate to level one during the entire story. He presumably would have in the past been best represented by such a character. Not so much of a problem for a less developed character at the start of LotR. The hobbits could quite easily fit to level one characters.

You hit the nail on the head Luan!:)
what most of the people on this thread are doing is looking at the series, and trying to make characters exactly like that. You can't do that in BG. Personally I dont think anyone other than the hobbits (and maybe Gimli) are within the experience cap for BG. Another thing you have to do, is pick one spot in the trilogy, and look at the characters then. If Aragorn (Strider) doesn't get his healing ability untill the last book, but the rest of the characters are based on their characters in the first book, then dont include that ability.

Just play with 5 chars, or with Sam as 6th... Two thief are good, then one can go for lockpicking and the other for traps.....

Aragorn should be a Ranger/Cleric for he has far more healing skills then a normal Ranger but I thought that was impossible.

Gandalf should be a Fighter/Mage and partyleader too.

    [IMG] Gandalf as a fighter/mage  ??
True he does carry a sword but it is a magic sword and couldn't it be mordenakkens sword (sp) since in the hobbit he makes it float by itself to kill the goblin king. He should be a straight mage, or if your planning on taking your party in to BG2 then a sorcerer when you do so.
