I got my druid the wild shape: shambling mound feat but it doesn't show up in the hot bar. Does that feat not work or something?

I have no mods at all in my game and it is patched with the latest official patch.

[IMG] You need to place it on the hot bar yourself. it's included in the abilities button (the last button)

right-click the place on the hot bar you want it, right click the ability button, left-click the shapeshift button, then click somewhere on the map, or you'll shapeshift when you unpause:)

first one shows the shape shift bar, only got boar and wolf, no mound :(

second one shows that I got the shambling mound feat on her

she is level 9 if that means anything.

Or did you mean some other bar? This is actually the first time I have had a druid on my team, let alone a level 9 druid(I don't play this game THAT much)

EDIT: This is offtopic but its kinda annoying me now heh. What is HoF?

That's weird. You should be able to access it. Is your game patched? Have you tried resting?

HoF stands for Heart of Fury, a different way to play the game, you get overpowered items and XP galore while monsters are on steroids. I hate it but some players love it. If you don't mind Goblins being stronger than Bugbears or Formorian Giants then you might enjoy it.

Btw welcome to the Boards stegalt.

[IMG] That I can answer: Heart of Fury mode is a potential second run through the game, with all the enemies souped up. Opponents gain 10 levels, the starting goblins at Targos will have more than 40 hitpoints, instead of the measly 4 they got in normal mode. Enemies abilities are improved, attack bonuses are higher. Armour class becomes far less reliable, spellcasting is more important.
If you like the game, and don't want it to end when it ends, you can export your characters at the end of normal mode, and start a HoF game.

As for the wild shape Shambling Mound: I read in the druid info that "The druid will not be able to transform into Feat-based shapes as often, and all Feat-based shapes share the same pool of transformations per day"
It's possible that you're not yet high enough level to have 1 Feat-transformation yet. So I suggest you wait and see if it appears later on. If worst comes to worst, you can kick the druid out, and create a level 1 replica of the character, then cheat it up to the right level. Just don't forget that the old character might have gotten a bonus. I'm trying not to spoil anything, but judging from your photo, you're still a long way off from getting bonuses. So no worries:)

yeah i figured I might not be a high enouhg level, though its weird they would allow a druid to get the feat at level 8 even though they have to a higher level to use it. Oh well.

Yeah I -just- got in the ice castle/temple thing so im not -that- far. I just wanted to make sure I didn't waste a feat. Thanks guys, and thanks for the HoF info it does sound interesting heh

[IMG] let us know if that was the problem, and if leveling fixed it, ok?

A level up may fix it but I'm pretty sure 9 Druid levels are enough for that feat to work.

I just checked, it turns out you only need 8 Druid levels. The Druid in my current party has the feat and it works just fine.

It's a known bug - often druid wild shapes will not show up until the character has levelled up. Sometimes it takes multiple level-ups.

I wouldn't bother too much. It's just an unimportant feat.

If getting a few level ups work it's fine. True, it's not crucial but it can be fun. I like using it in the middle of a fight when I don't feel like casting spells but just want to bash some skulls. :D

well as soon as I figure out this slowdown thing i'll work on leveling her to 10 and see if it pops up then. Otherwise thanks for all the help guys... i might end up changing her around(hack her to get rid of that feat and get another one)

[IMG] stegalt: it's funny; from your photo i take it your average party level is 8, and you're in the ice temple.
I'm just getting ready to leave Targos, and my party is already level 7-9:cool:. There are a number of factors that would contribute to this difference:
    1) I have a slightly altered XP table. But this only gives 10% extra XP for kills, and dynamic XP system will reduce this effect eventually.
    2) I do level squatting.
    3) I know almost all the missions, and how to get XP (though i think i missed out on a little quest XP by killing all the wardrum posts before advancing to the next level in the warrens...)
    4) I took advantage of the unlimited spawning of Worgriders by keeping one drummer alive. This is probably what took me up a level! But when i saved and loaded again, the spawning ended.
    5) And i avoid tactics that would cost me XP, like aid from blue-circled characters, summoning demons/elementals, disintegration, etc.

Well, there's nothing wrong with your level, you're in for an exciting and challenging game!:thumb:

Not to mention level squatting but using an altered XP table changes a lot of things and makes the game much easier... Nothing wrong with that since you must enjoy the game a lot but you can't compare levels with a party from an unmodded game.

    [IMG] I know I know. I'm a naughty boy:p
My game install is about the closest IWD2 can get to a 'megamod', with too many changes to remember... Some stuff that reduces the challenge of the game:
    - Custom.dll fix allows monks to wear robes, and skill point squatting
    - The aforementioned altered MONCRATE.2DA, giving more XP
    - Bonus merchants and bonus items (some are so overpowered, I won't toch them until the end of HoF)
    - Bottomless bags and unlimited stacking - i can hog items till i find the best store to sell
    - Improved Holy Avenger, Stronger Bastard Swords
    - Armour and shields provide damage resistance. This makes the original armours/shields much better than the mod items.
    - Alternate druid shapeshifting - Half-dragon form shouldn't be used too often, just occasionally, for fun.
    - Additional druid spells: Stoneskin, 'nuff said.

But there are components that add challenge to the game:
    - Undead Targos, not to be sneezed at. Sure, you get a bunch of scrolls as reward, but they're all Necromancy - useless for my illusionist.
    - Maximum HitPoints for non-party-joinable NPCs (meaning enemies get max HP)
    - Gems and potions require identification (finally a practical use for Alchemy)
    - Armour and shields provide damage resistance. This also applies to enemies. Just like certain enemies don't benefit from this, neither do my arcane spellcasters, because they don't wear armour.
    - Tactics4IWD2 adds LOADS of new challenges and encounters.

I just started chapter 2, and switched to Insane difficulty. The beginning chapter was just too difficult, with all the skeletons at level 1, my party couldn't handle double damage. I hope I'll be able to keep it at this level... all the way to the end of HoF:)

Given the extra XP I don't think all these mods will make the game more challenging (extra XP means extra levels whic means more spells and higher level spells hence a reduced difficulty).

Undead Targos is not a good mod, its only excuse for putting overpowered enemies is giving the party scrolls and a magic mace which kills them. That's exactly what shouldn't happen in any game (still it's somewhat the case in BG2 if you think about Firkraag and the dragon slaying sword and shield conveniently placed).

Sorry for being off-topic but I've played Undead Targos and it's not hard provided you use the scrolls or the mace.

    Back on topic.

Any news of the shapeshifting Druid stegalt?

[IMG] yeah, you said that about the Undead Targos mod before. It's a valid point, I'm just saying that all the scrolls that are dropped are necromancy, and useless for my illusionist. i think it's no coincidence that 'Suballac' only drops necromancy scrolls.

And cranking up the difficulty goes a long way to restoring the challenge of the game. I don't get the feeling that it's unbalanced. In Insane difficulty I still take loads of damage from for example a boring beetle, despite having damage reduction from Ease-of-use. I don't think a monk wearing a robe is going to spoil it. The improved items, druid spells/shapechanges, it all gives more power, but Tactics4IWD2 definitely give enemies more :mad:power too.
All in all, I don't deny that i may be playing a slightly easier game, but as you said, the fun of the game experience isn't less.

And my reasoning for the squatting and extra XP is that i want to level faster. Ending the game at a lousy level 16 in normal mode, isn't a complete game experience. :rolleyes:I don't really care which spells are available when, but I'd at least want to cast level 9 spells by the end...

oh im sorry guys I guess I forgot to post back here. When my druid went up a level the new wildshape at the level and the one from the feat poped up. Working like a charm, no luck on the slowdown but it kinda fixed itself its not nearly as bad as it was before.

Yeah I figured my level was a -lil- low then normal, but hey its not fun if it isn't a challenging ;P
