    Hello all.
    I used to see a lot of posts about vista problems but now it seems they are all gone when I got my copy of Vista...can someone help me with this graphic issue? What do I need to do to get rid of annoying black boxes in the game?
    Thanks in advance.

    The Bigg made a thread about graphics at SHS forums and what to do, but otherwise If you want help here you might want to tell us ie your graphic card 32/64 bit Vista and so on. A search on google could prove usefull too.
    BTW rumours tells me that Windows 7 Beta is quiet good - also for BG games :)

    Hi. Much thanks for the reply. If you would tell me what this SHS forum is I am more than willing to just look it up...
    Mine is Windows Vista 32-bit version with nVidia 8600M GT, how much impact do these have?

    The SHS post from "the bigg" is at IE games and NVidia Series 8 video cards

    SP guru olimikrig just posted a great nHancer profile and tips on this, as well, right below this thread about 4 or so links: here. he was helping out with Vistax64, but I suspect it would work just as well on the x32 side of things.

    Lionheart, try enabling 3D acceleration in the Configure menu.

    Hello guys.
    I have tried what I read on that forum and what Taluntin said, but that just makes the screen flicker and its very painful x_x!
    Is this only my problem? Disable the 3D acceleration and it would become normal but the blackboxes will be there.

    I'm guessing you using a GeForce 8+ series card? It's a little hard to give you much assistance when we don't know anything about your hardware specs (might be the problem isn't exactly related to vista you see).

    If so disable all those fancy options in your nvidia/nhancer profile (or have them aplication controlled). No AA, no anistropic, no HDR disable it all.

    then try and copy+paste this baldur.ini (if you haven't already)

    Code:
    [Program Options]
    Debug Mode=1
    Installing=0
    Install Type=3

    to my knowledge the most important of these features are:
    SoftMirrorBlt=1
    SoftBlt=1
    SoftSrcKeyBlt=1
    BitsPerPixel=16

    If the problem still persists, or if new ones arise play around with the settings in baldur.ini. Pretty much the best advice I can give. If you back up your original baldur.ini you can always restore that. SO just play around with the options, and see if you can get it to work.

    (where it says

    Code:
    [Alias]
    HD0:=D:\Spil\BGII\
    CD1:=D:\Spil\BGII\CD1\
    CD2:=D:\Spil\BGII\CD2\;D:\Spil\BGII\CD2\
    CD3:=D:\Spil\BGII\CD3\
    CD4:=D:\Spil\BGII\CD4\
    CD5:=D:\Spil\BGII\CD5\

    just edit in your location from your backed-up baldur.ini - it will be different. Mine runs something like c:bad:Program Files(x86)\BGII\ :) )

    Thanks for all the replies.
    Unfortunately enough after copying the the ini.file there and editing it the game always makes my screen go towards the northwest corner of the map and I won't be able to scroll it anywhere making it more unplayable than ever (but yeah while it was automatically scrolling I indeed didn't see any black boxes on the floor around dropped items so in that matter this is working). I will maybe try messing with the ini file there but i really got no idea what's controlling the "automatic" screen scrolling...but much thanks for the posts.
