[IMG] Can anyone explain why a sword like Carsomyr would be ineffective against vampires, but I can slaughter those same vampires with Spider's Bane or Harbinger?

The only explanation that I can think of is that some vampire (I believe Tanova in Bodhi's lair does it) cast protection from magic weapons on themself. If it's giving you a "weapon ineffective" message no matter what vampire you hit, though, I dunno what to tell you. It certainly shouldn't be happening.

I'm thinking it must be a glitch of some kind. I can switch swords mid-battle (to Spider's Bane or Harbinger), and suddenly I have no problem hitting the same vampire that couldn't be hit by Carsomyr.

Maybe it has something to do with the particular circumstances. For curiosity sake, rather than continuation of my game, I decided to explore the capabilities of a few different items by using the console to dump them into the game (please, no comments on using cheats. This was just for interest sake, and the fact that I like creating items; so sometimes, rather than playing the game, I spend a bit of time exploring the capabilities of various items to see what they do and how they do them).

Anyway, I haven't actually found Carsomyr in the game yet (I've only just finished battling the vampires in the 2nd area of the dungeon in the Windspeer Hills - nasty SOBs). So maybe it has something to do with this? Should it make any difference whether the item is found in-game, or dumped thru the console? I suspect not, but I differ to your opinions.

On a related matter to the above (and hopefully not off-topic for this forum), any particular reason why there isn't a forum in SP for SoA modders? Or have I merely overlooked it somehow?

Any item should behave the same whether you found it or if you CLUA'd it in, so no worries there.

As for the modders thing, any and all mod discussion belongs in the respective game's forum, I believe.

My paladin can kill anything with it.
Even the Lesser Demon Lord in the Underdark.
It is immune to +4 weapons or less which makes him worse than the Demi-Lich in that respect at least.

Thank-you Truper, but it turns out that that is not the solution either since it was the SW2H10.itm file that I used.

Oh well, must be a bug somewhere . . .
