Weird crashing

    Hi there,

    I've got a little (oh well, not so little) problem with crashes in PsT, and a friend of mine told me to ask here. And so I do.

    I've got the 2CD English version, no mods installed.

    The game crashes when I try to enter some places, like Coffin Shop in Lower Ward or Linguist's Home in Clerk's Ward. What's weird is that I have already been to those places and everything was just fine. The game crashes *now*, when I have something to do in there, like get a coffin pillow for a dreambuilder or find someone who could help me read dodecahedron.

    I see the black screen for a second, then I see my desktop, black rectangle (640x480px...) in upper-right corner, and PsT on the taskbar. The game doesn't respond, and only thing I can do is killing the process.

    Tried re-installing PsT, installing FixPack (without starting a new game though), deleting files from Cache and Temp folders, running game in compatibility mode. Nothing worked.

    I really don't like the idea of starting the game again - I just have no time for it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    (It's just not fair - first game in *ages* that made me sit in front of the monitor for hours, and I can't play it normally. How lucky am I?)

    Well, if you're talking about my Fixpack, you will have bad terrible awful issues if you apply it midgame. Reinstall and don't apply it. Could you get away with it with Platter's? Maybe. But it's not going to help fix the sort of problem you're describing either, so not much point.

    Did you do a full install to your hard drive, modifying your Torment.ini to point to the directory where you copied your CD2? If not, you might want to try it and see.

    Full install didn't help either.
    But I can't find 'cd1' folder anywhere on any of the two cds, and I had to leave te default directory 'D:/cd1/' in the ini file, or the game woudn't even start (black screen). It's weird, since it's cd2 which is in my cd drive all the time.

    (BTW, I didn't *open* dodecahedron this time when I went to the Linguist's Home, I just *had* it with me)
