Why are there more BG2 NPCs mods than there are BG1 NPC mods?

From what I see out there, there are only 5 NPC mods for TUTU. Indira, Gavin, Finch, Mur'Neth and Jonathan. But there are a whole slew of them for BG2. I'm not a modder, so is it just that much easier to Mod for BG2 or is there just no interest out there for BG1? I personally like part 1 better myself.

I think it's the simple fact more people play BG2. When the modders came along they focused on the 'latest' game which was BG2 and TOB.

Even today you have hundreds of people actively talking about BG2 and TOB, then the comparatively old, out dated graphics and lack of content of the original BG.

These days the only reason people seem to play BG1 is to do a complete run through of BG1, BG2 SOA and TOB.

I'm no modder so I wouldn't know if it's easier to mod BG2 but they seem like the reasons from my perspective.

It's no different to make a mod for tutu than it is for BG2 - modding for vanilla BG1 is different though - less options available with what you can script and the like.

[IMG] Also the BG2 defaults were more chatty and you felt more involved with them, BG1 sometimes they felt a bit like background. With the BG1NPC project though that changed.

It's also easier to have a clean install of a BG2 game to test through and look around than to have an idealised Tutu installation when you're having a play through on a vanilla setup.

I generally agree with Planetouched on this issue. Also there, maybe it is just mean, seems to be more room to expand or make use out of in SoA.
