Reduce him to zero or below hit points. :p

Seriously, there are lots of walkthroughs here on SP, check out the walkthroughs, one of them should have a few ideas. Also, search this forum, I'm positive your not the 1st to ask this question.

For me, I summon everything I got, buff up, haste and hammer away. The wolf collar you get at the Palisade battle is a keeper for me, makes the character donning it immune to panic. I prefer my best warrior to wear it for this fight.

I always use disintergrate (yeah yeah, it's cheese). It can take a few attempts but it works eventually

I have tried many different magic combo's but none work. I can't get him past "barily injured".......... Also where or how do I get disintergrate?

IIRC, the Guardian dragon is immune (or super-resistant) to acid damage, highly resistant to fire damage, and vulnerable to electricity damage. Also IIRC, the dragon is highly resistant to physical damage unless you are using weapons with at least a +3 enchantment. So, break out your best weapons and ammo for this big lizard!!!

Summons are useful, though if the dragon is surrounded by summons and there are no party members that he can attack in melee, the dragon will teleport to your party members. (This might only happen in the patched version... don't really know. All I know is that in one battle when I'd surrounded the dragon with big nasty undead summons, it just TP'd to my party and screwed up my tactics all to hell...) And BTW, don't really count on the summons to produce much damage. Their primary value in this battle is to (hopefully) distract the dragon in melee and soak up damage.

Obviously, this is a battle where you want to buff up your party to the max. And make sure that you have plenty of Resist Fear spells on hand. (I usually keep my cleric well away from the melee in this battle cuz the dragon can cause so much damage that I value my cleric' healing abilities more than whatever he can add in melee.) This is a battle where a paladin's anti-fear aura comes in handy in melee. (And don't forget that your summons can panic as well, so a paladin's anti-fear aura helps them too.)

With the dragon's vulnerability to electrical damage, obviously you should be casting spells like Chain Lightning or Call Lightning. But Mordenkainen's Sword is also a good spell for this battle. You can try the Disintegrate spell, though the dragon has a pretty good chance of resisting the spell (if you do want to go this route, casting Malison first is a good idea).

That depends--what kind of resources do you have? Describe your party. What classes/levels do you have? How strong are your weapons? I assume you're playing on Normal difficulty.

Well, I suppose if you're on Vista/Win7 you can use the "Snipping tool" to make screenshots for us, but it's probably just easier to describe it in whatever level of detail you can. Average party level? How many wizards/clerics? Melee or missile-oriented? Do you have any +3 or +4 weapons? Are stats powergamed (18/18/16/18/3/3) or more normal?

Otherwise, all we can say is "cast every buff you've got and summon all the creatures you can, and cast Prayer/Recitation/Emotion:Despair/Malison, followed by all the Disintegrate spells you can". If your party is powerful that might be overkill but it's hard to know without knowing what the party's like. By the way, the guardian probably has a boss ring and is probably immune to most spells, but Transmutation spells (Tremor, Disintegrate) should probably get through, and Grease should still work. Combine that with Free Action and it might make it a little easier to sic him on your decoy.

Buff your party, summon some monsters, buff those, then summon the dragon.

Cast lower resistance twice on it, then start hitting it with everything you have. It'll go down.

Defeating the dragon is optional. Clearing the Yuanti temple is sufficient to continue the game. If you can't defeat it now you can return later when you're more experienced and better equipped to defeat it or simply leave it alone for the rest of the game.

Mordenkainen's Sword, as said by Crucis, is a great spell if you don't want to simply disintergrate it. I prefer no to. Going toe to toe with a Dragon is the reason I play these games. That fight is full of AWESOMENESS! My 1st party to encounter it was Paladin, Fig/Barb, Monk, Rog/Bard, Cleric, Wizard. A very standard party. Melee city. The Monk was my decoy. The Barb was my melee damage dealer. Mordy's Sword was another good source of damage. Plus, Lower Resistance and Magic Missle/Chromatic Orb like crazy with Arcane spellcasters. Something will get through eventually. Heal like crazy with you cleric.

May I ask why the Cleric10/Druid3 char? You could be casting level 7 Cleric spells by now if you went all Cleric levels. Role-playing reason perhaps?

You will need alot of good +3 weapons with 4 all-melee characters to hurt the Dragon. Though your melee damage output should be fun, especially when raging.

Easily (IIRC). Just walk thru the gate back to Kuldahar. The dragon is an optional battle.

    Faro,

It looks like your party is really heavy on melee and light on spellcasters. I think what I'd do is cast Magic Circle Against Evil and as many Bull's Strength/Aid spells on your tanks as you can, and as much Summon Undead as you can (which will be only 3-4 unless your sorcerer also has it), and then just beat on the dragon as hard as you can with melee weapons while the sorcerer dumps all the spells on it that he knows. It will be a tough fight.

Or, you could just skip it, as others have pointed out.

    -Max

P.S. If the sorcerer happens to know Fire Shield + Mirror Image, you can cast both and play "porcupine" to do a couple hundred points of damage to the guardian while also letting your melee dudes get in some good hits. Just keep recasting Mirror Image.

Don't summon the dragon, and just go back to the teleportation gate that brought you to Chult. Enter it and return to Kuldahar. Very easy.
