I forgot, what does the Blade's song do?

I know the bard song acts like a free luck spell in BG1, but it seems to have a slightly different effect in BG2. I tried to search for it as I know there was a thread about this before, but what exactly does the plain vanilla bard and the blade's respective songs do?

How does the vanilla bard's song improve with levels? I don't recall the exact mechanics for it. I can't find it in the PDFs for the manuals on the CD, so if somebody could give me a hint, I'd be grateful.

Could you please give me a page number that explains what the Blade or the Plain Bard's song does? I said I could NOT find it it the manual, not that I didn't have the manual. I know the Blade's song doesn't get better with levels, but what does it do in the first place?

I have looked through the manuals and searched the forum topics every which way. Either I am totally missing something (wouldn't be the first time) or the Bard song specifics are not laid out in detail. There's a lot of references to Luck being improved, but no details. Sorry. The improved Bard Song HLA trumps all the songs IMO, except maybe Jester, but I know that wasn't your question. I do hope somebody has better info for you!

I'd hazard a guess that Luck bonus works the same way it does in Icewind Dale II, ie. instead of having a bonus to your rolls AFTER you've performed the roll, you start shifting the rolls themselves.

Say, instead of getting numbers from 1 to 8 with a roll of a d8, you'd get 2 to 8 with 2/8 chance of rolling an 8. Or in more concrete terms, you'd NEVER be able to roll a critical miss (a.k.a roll '1' on your toHit roll on a d20) as the Luck bonus would always nudge that up. Similarly, if you'd benefit from rolling lower numbers (say, when rolling for the damage you take from the Fireball that enemy mage just cast on you), you'd shift the rolls downwards.

Quite the benefit, actually, depending on what EXACTLY is affected by the "Luck" bonus given by the song.

Well, there is the wizard's spell "Luck", 2nd level I believe. What does the description of the spell say state?

    ---------- Added 0 hours, 4 minutes and 58 seconds later... ----------

Below is from the Spell list here on Sorcerers.

    "Luck
Nice effect but for only three meager rounds and only one person. Don't waste a slot on this.

The luck bonus is added to THAC0 and minimum damage in damage rolls for physical attacks, but is subtracted from damage rolls (as a whole, not just minimum damage) for your enemies' physical attacks.Range: 15"
