I've got a problem with crowded places. I hate being surrounded by more than 5 persons, after playing Baldur's Gate all these years you come to realize that 6 is the party limit and that anyone beyond that is a potential enemy.

Hey Caradhas, perhaps more RTS game playing can change that perspective.

I get nervous about wasp hives, but it's not necessarily a phobia, although I'm enough allergic that their venom might be lethal if I'd get stung by several wasps and several times.

I'm afraid of losing my teeth. That's almost a phobia, but not quite since it doesn't limit my regular life in any way. Neither do wasps.

But my phobia, although it's not quite an irrational fear, but one that does limit my life is that I'm afraid of myself. I fear losing my self control. When that happens, it might get a little...messy...not to mention painful...for others.

Tried it before, zergs only made things worse... Since the party limit in Dragon Age is 4 and not 6 you can imagine the consequences.

Bees, wasps, hornets, and assorted other evil buzzy stingy critters. If i so much as hear one I start charging in the other direction, looks a but funny actually. A 6 foot 350 pound man running screaming BEES BEES..... Oh well, at least i have a good reason, I am severly allergic to all bees and assorted evilness more than 3 stings are fatal ><.

[IMG] I'm allergic to bee and wasp stings, I have to carry medication with me at all times just in case. I get nervy around wasps, but I don't think I'm *that* scared of them. Had a problem when larping that a half empty bottle of cider got left in the tent and attracted all the wasps from the moodland we were next to. Kev is a little scared of bugs but had to get rid of them for me, the poor man. Still, beats anaphylactic shock though, I think he'd dislike that happening to me more

I dislike moths. And also I think I used to be slightly hydrophobic. And there's also glossophobia (fear of public speaking) but pretty much everyone has that.

Speaking of moths, an awful lot of them have been stalking me lately. I suspect foul play. *glares at a certain someone who breeds moth assassins*

I'm not afraid of bees (I'm not allergic) which doesn't make sense considering that spiders are not dangerous where I live whereas a bee can still kill you if it stings you in the wrong place. A wasp did sting me once when I was driving, I felt dizzy and had to pull over. That can be dangerous.

I actually like speaking in public. Of course I used to teach so that may account for that.

I'm afraid of pain. Whatever will hurt me will scare me. And I have a fear of snakes. I hate snakes!!! I'm okay with spiders though. When I find some in the house, I put them in my hand and bring them outside. But if I see a snake, I'll bring a sledgehammer!

I'm also scared of heights, but it's not that big a thing. And like most people, I'm afraid of speaking in public, but I like it. I do some theater. Before a play starts, I'm a nervous wreck, but once it starts and I get into it, it's the most wonderful feeling.

Oh, and I have the most moronic fear. I'm insanely nervous when I call on the phone someone I don't know (or don't know much). I get sweaty palms and everything. I have never figured it out. I'm all good if the person calls me, but if I have to call...
And this includes stores. I would rather drive to a store to see if it's open rather than call before going...

[IMG] Had a panic attack on Christmas day where visiting one of my grandfathers' and they kept talking about injections. I tried asking for a change in subject three times but ended up flipping and feeling incredibly embarressed afterwards. Bless him Grandad King felt so bad afterwards, he didn't know I had a phobia and my mother didn't realise how bad it had gotten recently. Last time I could have anything done was a blood test, my body went completely rigid, I was on the verge of passing out, it hurt like hell and they couldn't physically get enough blood out of me to actually run any tests. It was a waste of time that ended up scarring and being bruised for over three weeks.

Since then I've pretty much gone downhill, but never really noticed.

Ooh, same here. Calling for pizza is one of the most excruciating experiences ever. I am working on it, and it isn't as bad as it used to be, but damn, calling people I don't know sucks.

By definition aren't all phobias irrational?

That is definitely NOT a phobia. It is completely rational to fear pissing off the Mrs.

I do have a fear of heights - not of being up on a ladder or such, but things like rollercoasters really freaks me out. It basically has to be high enough where if you fell you'd die for it to freak me out. So maybe a really, really, high ladder...

I hate bats. It's not like I'll run into them that often, but I just don't like them. Very irrational: they're small, mostly harmless and they avoid bumping into you, but something in those leathery wings makes me dislike them.

When I was a kid, somehow a bat flew into my home at night, and of course I was alone at the time. Terrified, I managed to chase it out of my room with a hockey stick and barricaded the door so it couldn't come back :) . The next morning I charged out of the door and searched the house, but couldn't find it.. so I thought that it had gone away. Later that day I was watching tv and what do you know - there was a small black lump hanging from the wall just above the tv! After that it was like the scene from Ace Ventura 2.. I got some thick gloves (wise move, bats can have rabies), grabbed the little thing and ran outside screaming like a cheerleader and threw it away. Yuck!

    Elevators.

Let's face it, an elevator is basically a metal coffin.

If you're not sure that one is watching you that's just because you can't see it lurking in the dark. Ducks are devious creatures and one should always watch out for them and their sneaky beaks. Watch out for feathers too. And swans. Swans are just smug ducks that don't quack. There is no such thing as a sitting duck.

Thank God almighty I don't suffer from any of these, it would ruin my life.

Now that's a mouthful, quite funny that if you suffered from Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia you'd probably be unable to say it.

I think Aldeth will agree, that is definitely not a phobia but plain common sense.

lol  I don't want to ridicule somebody's fears, but why would someone be afraid of words? Do they get a panic attack if they see a long word written on a piece of paper? :)

Yes, I do fear. That is why I keep my girlfriend wet... errr... I mean I dump water on her... yeah... that's it... water... :p
