I had both too, but this is a bug exploit - with the latest patch this should no longer be posible (at least it isn't with the ToB pach).
However, fighter stronghold os the de'Arnise keep and the mage stronghold is the planar sphere.

I know it's a bug but I'm not so sure about "exploit", running back to some or another stronghold for a petty reason whilst in the middle of a quest can be irritating when it happens too often.

[IMG] Yeah, but its worth it. I sunk a lot of money and ten weeks into the bard stronghold quest. It was definitely worth it though, now i'm getting 2000+ GP a week! :)

A bunch of the strongholds give you an income but, IMHO at least, it is entirely unnecessary. The amount of loot you pick up just doing quests gives you far more money than you could ever hope to spend.

I agree. I had an evil fighter/theif and I had both of their strongholds. But I got bored with the theif one so I just didn't assign my theives anything and I killed everyone. Later I worked with Bohdi so I ended up killing all the shadow theives. Besides 500-1000 gold from the keep a week + what you get from quests is anough for me. :)

[IMG] Maybe De'Arnise hold (Nalia's quest)
    or maybe planarsphere (Valygars quest)

IIRC, except for bug exploits, you get the stronghold you accept first, e.g if (as a fighter/mage) you did the Planar Sphere quest and got it, you would no longer get the option to take Nalia's keep.

EDIT: Sorry, I went temporarily insane :)

    I think Fru meant a fighter/mage not a fighter/theif.

[IMG] Actually without the patch the only strongholds you could mix up were mage, fighter and thief and with the patch its all solved.

OK -- Can you stand a dumb question?
What freakin good is a stronghold?

When I played as a fighter I got Nalia's keep -- but it was one damn thing after another over there and they wanted all or most of the money to fix some problem. I thought -- how does this help me?
When I played as an undead hunter, I joined the Radiant Heart and they gave me tasks -- giants, boring, the assassination one was fun, I opted not to kill Firkraag -- but no money. So, again, how does this help me?

In ToB you can rest in Hell whenever you want, and Cespenar is useful, but in SoA I don't get the attraction.

    Actualy strongholds are very good.

The fighter stronghold gets you lots of money. Yes, at first it might cost you a lot but after everything is over you still get money and it adds up and easily covers the money you had to pay.

The paladin stronhold is more for experience. You get something like twice as much xp for killing Firekrag. Not when you kill him but after you go back to the Order they give it to you. You also get a few items for some of the quests.

The rest of the strongholds a pretty much the same.
