Finally I have played through the whole saga, from BG1(Tutu) to ToB. Powergamey as I am, I went with the fabled Ranger/Cleric together with Jaheira, Imoen, Aerie, Keldorn and Minsc. Not surprisingly, it was a bit too easy so next run-through will be with difficulty enhancers.

Just wanted to express my concerns about my own sanity - it's a cry and a shame that I postponed this all the way until now. The saga is just marvelous, pure and simple. :)

Kudos for its creators, you really DID make history with this game.

Grats! Very nice. I too hope to stop reloading one day and play all the way from Tutu through ToB. I'm liking my Wild Mage this run so maybe I'll join you!

Does it count if I once created a F/M/T in the actual Baldur's Gate I and import it into BG2, then play all the way through to ToB?

I didn't have enough HD space to install TutU on the old computer I have the BG series on until I upgraded it with a larger hard drive from a dead computer in December of 2008.

SI, "weird" in relation to powergaming or not pushing all the way through until now? :p

Anyhoo, BG series seems much less forgiving for sloppy gameplay compared to IWD2. Or rather, creating nigh-untouchable protector characters is much harder and in many cases redundant since ambushes and scripted encounters that leave you surrounded are all over the place. Took a while to break my inbred fondness of buffing spells and rediscovered the power of good ol' Dispel Magic and its brethen.

Breach still seems a rather convoluted requirement for battling mages but at least my 5th level mage spell slots go from relatively useless (IWD2) to one of the most congested (BG). The huge amounts of Magic Resistant foes greatly diminish the value of a magic-heavy approach to a point where anyone beyond one dedicated caster of either type (arcane/divine) should either use their spells for self-defense or face varying degrees of redundancy.

[IMG] Congrats on a job well done!

I'm pretty sure this is the way it's supposed to be done. It's the way I've always done it (about 5 times).
