    [IMG] Hi guys

I can't finish this quest: I got the rod, met the Avatar, etc. but now I cannot find this damned Beholder.

I admit that I had run into IT once, but then my party was too weak and "surprised" to face it, and my main character was "destroyed" before I realized what was happening.
So I reloaded the game, and cast protective spells (prot from evil, prayer, ...) and summoned a demon with my 14th level priest (Anomen... yes, I tried to solve this quest quite late in the game). This demon killed everybody and... is it possible that it destroyed this damned beholder too?

    Thanks for any suggestion.
    Carlo

The "Unseeing Eye" beholder should appear seconds after you pick up the second part of the rod in the south-eastern part of the beholder cave (that you reach through the pit of the faithless).
(Damn, I should really learn to break up my sentences :) )

If you already killed him "by accident", you need to return the rod to the Avatar in order to complete the quest.

    hope this helps...

    Thanks Seric

But I returned the rod to the avatar, earning some XP, but when I spoke to Sessar (don't really remember his name: he's the guy who tells you where to find the rod) he said something like: "now that you have the rod, kill the beast before he kills us all" (hmmm, I don't know what is the sentence in English, since I have the Italian version). Anyway... it seems that the quest is not over yet.

    Bye,
    Carlo

Err, did you use the rod on the Unseeing Eye when it appeared? You equip it in the quick item slot.

Also, how can a demon wipe out your entire party? Yours truly has a PC that killed those riff raff in the Planar Sphere within seconds.

Tch tch, firstly one must not forget to use Protection from Evil 10' Radius, and secondly one must not forget to choose Demonic/Fell as one's racial enemy! :D

    Ooops...
I forgot to ask this: If this "Unseeing Eye" is dead, I think I should find this body, but I can't find it anywhere in the dungeon.

Where is it? Or... What happens when you destroy it?

    Thanks again,
    Carlo

Bodies dissapear after a while (Like when your resting) so it could be that he is gone.
With me, the beholder came after I took the second part of the rod from his chamber. I wanted to sneak out, but I encountered it in the corridor which led to that chamber. I used the rod and tadaa... He was dead.
Don't forget to return the rod to the Avatar and only use it ONCE!!!

    Thanks for your answers

To Rakanishu: Hmm, I guess my post wasn't clear enough! This demon killed all the enemies, not my party: I *used* Prot. from Evil 10'radius, so that the demon does not attack me. And I put the rod in the quick item slot of my main character. But I cannot find the "Unseeing Eye" ...

I think there's a bug which might or might not have a bearing on this. If you save AFTER you put the two pieces together and do a RELOAD from that the beholder won't appear.

[IMG] Zorac, you're right! The 1st time I put the 2 pieces together, my party was too weak to face the Beholder, and my main character was destroyed in a snap. Then I reloaded, but the Beholder was gone!

Now I reloaded an older saved game and... TAH-DAH: it was there again :)

    Thanks, Carlo

Exactly. Happened to me too - a reload from the quick-save didn't work, so I just reloaded the auto-save and it worked fine.

    Firstly, welcome to the boards.

Secondly, read the FAQ or your time here will be short once an admin sees your violations.

Thirdly, I'll go over the quest step by step for you:

When you enter the first part of the dungeon from the sewers, you will want to go east and south until you go through a poisoned gas room. After getting through that, you will have a chance to chat with a priest of the unseeing eye, and he will ask you to go to the lower levels to get half a rod. He'll give you a key. You'll go back north and a little ways west and find a doorway. Go through it and talk to a former priest of the eye, who will tell you of the dangers of the rod. Go west from his position, and go down the stairs. You'll end up in a dungeon and you'll have a few obstacles befoe you meet the priest of Amaunator, who will not stop your entrance to the temple. You'll be able to chat with an avatar who will give you half the rod.

Go back and talk to the former priest of the Unseeing eye, who will give you the password to go get the other half of the rod from the Unseeing Eye's lair. Go down, fight your way through all sorts of enemies, and then at the eastern part of the lair, you will find in a slime pool the second half of the rod. Once you have both they will fuse together and the complete rod will appear in the PC's inventory. Equip it in your quick slot, and as you leave that pool, the Unseeing Eye will appear, and you will use the rod on him, hit him with whatever else your other characters have, and he'll drop like a rock. Take the rod back to the Aumanatori temple, talk to the priest outside, and you'll all be moved inside the temple, and you'll give the avatar the rod.

That's it. Anything other than that is a bug. Once, for instance, as soon as I got the second piece, it fused together and then killed my PC for taking it from underground! I hadn't even moved! So, reload and give it another go.
