    [IMG] Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for awhile and just want to say thanks to all you guys who've contributed! This place is cool . . . (why didn't I find it sooner? :D )

Regarding Ranger/Clerics: can they use both druid and cleric spells if they dual-class? I know it can be done with multi. If I dual from Ranger to Cleric say at level 12, will all the druid spells be available as my cleric levels up or will they be restricted? Thanks for your help.

I don't know if they can be dualled BUT:
If they are dualled at 12th level you can't use your magics until you're 13th level in the other class.

    Yep, you are correct.

Even if taking only one level of ranger you get absolutely all priest spells when your 2nd class surpasses the first one by one level (as in every dual class).

    @Khelben
If he said he multiclassed him than it means it is also a dualclass option available.

    I see . . .

So the druid abilities only kick in when FULL ranger abilities are active. For multiclass R/C, that's at the beginning. For dual-class R/C, that means when cleric level surpasses ranger level. I think for my next PC I'll take an archer to level 12 then dual to cleric.

That's a good idea only if grand-master him in slings, because you won't be able to use bows as a cleric. If you get the sling of seeking (it adds your strength bonus to damage and thac0) and a high strength, you'd be a madman. This way you can have a shield too and be pretty much untouchable*. Don't count on him for much of a tank, though. I'm not certain, but I think you'll still be limited to one prof. per melee weapon*, but who cares if you want him for a back-row slingin' machine, who can summon, heal, turn undead, resurrect...damn, now I want to make one!

*Can anyone varify if the limitations to weapons and armor carry over when you go cleric?

That's exactly what I'm thinking, Death Rabbit. He'll toss out priest spells like no tomorrow, dish out Goliath-killer bullets, and chill out in the back with a large shield! :D

It's too bad you can't use a sling and an off-hand weapon (yet you can hold a shield!?). I'm hoping the non-metal armor restriction goes away, can somebody verify this?

Clerics can wear any armor or shield as long as they meet the requirements.

Yes, but that doesn't really answer the question (you just said 'clerics' - we know that already).

What we are asking is, can an Archer or Stalker who is dualed to a cleric wear heavier armor, and furthermore, are they restricted to 1 proficency per melee weapon as per the Archer?

    Please clarify.

When you dual to cleric you can wear any armor but when you regain your ranger abilities, you will lose your stealth ability when wearing metal armor.

Clerics cannot use bladed weapons so if you have proficiencies in any type of bladed weapon before you dual-class, you will never be able to use them again -- even after you regain your Ranger abilities. I'm pretty confident that you will also lose any ability you had in bow weapons, though you will be able to use slings if you applied any proficieny points to it. I did this with Minsc and I was a bit upset that he could no longer use two-handed swords. :(

I'm wondering why you want to dual-class Minsc to a cleric when his wisdom is so low

Sadly, no and yes. If you dual an Archer or Stalker to a Cleric, their armor and proficiency restrictions are not lifted. I.E. You would still be restricted to Archer/Stalker armor and only allowed one prof. per melee weapon. -Archer

This is the ONLY reason I won't dual these classes. I prefer a straight Ranger/Cleric dual. All of the advantages and none of the disadvantages. Much like the Kensai/Mage.

Personally, I'm working on 'empowering' a Druid Shapeshifter. Seems to have a lot of potential. But, that's another topic altogether... ;)
