    Grateful Dead - Road Trips Vol. 1 #3. ***** (5 out of 5)

I got this one off Ebay, but did not want to spend the extra $30.00 for the bonus disc, so it's just the regular 2 disc edition. This one is subtitled, "Summer '71" with two different sets at two locations - Yale, New Haven (disc 1) and Chicago, Auditorium Theatre (disc 2). Another great, '71 live performance. The sound is outstanding, remastered from the 2-track soundboard recordings and encoded in HDCD. The Sets? Classic early Dead: Hard to Handle, Dark Star > Bird Song, China Cat > I know You Rider, Sugar Magnolia. If you like the Dead (especially with Pigpen), this is a "must have" recording, IMHO.

Grateful Dead - Live at Cornell Unversity, 1977.

This is not an album but an AUD - Live Audience Tape.

    http://www.deadlistening.com/2008/02/audience-recording.html

This is one of the better AUDs that I have heard, or downloaded, and a fantastic performance. But the tape is just excellent. It is a free, COMPLETELY LEGAL, download, or you can just stream it, for anyone who would like to experience the "proper" GD. When Deadheads fuss about the "live, Grateful Dead experience," over their traditional released recordings (even the heavily polished live ones), this is what they are talking about - unless you were actually there. I didn't believe them either till I heard it for myself. :)

This one really capures Jerry's excellent playing on this particular show:

New discovery. In a review of the album they have been described as Black Sabbath with Bjork on vocals. I would say that they sound as a mix of Black Sabbath with Jefferson Airplane, heavy and psychedelic, they give the impression that they are a late 60s/early 70s band but this is a 2008 recording.
