[IMG] This forum is here because a very large number of D&D players have no faith that game developers will actually make another real D&D game to follow the BG series. It is a cry for attention - a cry to the game world that a whole gaming environment is not being served and a huge paying audience is waiting for someone to spot the glaringly obvious and get going.

The problem is that the owners of the D&D intellectual property have licensed it to the world's worst game designers and Atari have delivered anything but good games and everything but real D&D RPG.

There won't be any more real D&D until the game world wakes up to this problem. There won't be any more D&D RPG until the owners of the intellectual property do something about it. All we are going to get is NWNx rubbish and similar games using the rule set but not the environment.

We know. but alas we are goiing to buy the rpg games atari develops because we prefer bad games to stupid ones.

Perhaps not focus on atari, but on Obsidian. For them it is strike two.

I think someone ought to create a new system based on the AD&Dv2 rules and call it Dragons & Dungeons or something to avoid copyright infringement, thus highjacking the system from the IP "owners." Then create BG3 off that new system.

It's a bit more complex than that. All the characters, plot, game assets, locations, heck - even the name of the game are copyrighted.

As long it's not the "Christmas Poo" variety. That just wouldn't be genre appropriate.

I'm at least reasonably sated by Dragon Age, and hopeful for Dragon Age 2, so I can put my BG3 wants and desires to the wayside for a good while longer. BG3 by 2015 would be nice though. Somebody? Anybody...?

OH, how I miss the wonderful world of BG2,
with vampires and beholders and inns full of brew!
If only someone knew what to do
to create the next version as we all surely miss Boo!

But, what would we want in BG3?
More Bhaalspawn, where would be the mystery?
We all know what the endings happened to be,
so what should be included in the next story?

I like to see Maluagrym and Renders
    and drunk dwarves on benders!
    And Saurials and Zhentarim
    but please no Kenders!

I would like to see a few more Dragons,
like a White and a Gold to go with my flagons!
Whatever it is they are going to create,
I just want it soon, before it's too late.....

[IMG] Baldurs' Gate 3 is the invasion of the miniature giant space hamsters.

Will Minsc forgive Boo for his intergalactic betrayal?

Will the bond between hamster and ranger redeem the plotting rodent?

How did Boo communicate plans to the Motherwheel?

How did Boo corraborate with Irenicus and Edwin?

How did the council of six cope with their smallest member wandering the Sword Coast?

All this and more in the third installment: Baldurs' Gate 3: Wheel of Boo

I think they'll make BG3 a bit more current events. Amn will invade the rest of the sword coast for oil, while the city of Baldur's Gate will remain neutral in the endeavour to avoid offending ANYONE EVER and they'll also rename all their public holidays - religious or otherwise - to make them feel less mono-cultural.

Meanwhile, the ten towns of Icewind Dale will fall into civil war as each town gets bought out by a corporation and forced into manufacturing cheap mass produced technology.

The drow will be allowed to join society again, and the rest of the world will all make massive allowances to make way for their coming, and let them walk around with their faces covered to avoid offending them, though the other denizens of the sword coast will still be asked to remove their hoods when shopping to allow the scrying pools to see them clearly.

If Obsidian steals my idea, I'm sueing for royalties.

Obsidian doesn't need to steal your ideas, they just rename all the characters in the original, try to make some new zones (incidentally bugging the game out beyond belief) and let you replay the old game.

If Duke Nukem Forver can be released so can BG3.

Just wanted to show I can be positive.

Oh man, BG3 would be awesome!

Although, I went to Best Buy today for the first time in I don't know how long - they had 6 aisles of console games and accessories, but I couldn't find the pc games. A Customer Service rep took me to the pc software section...It was one 4 foot rack in a back corner of store. It had 4 games: World of Warcraft, Call of Duty Black Ops, Dead Space, and Civilisation.

I think PC games are dead. I did play a little Wipeout using the PS3 full body scanner - once they perfect that so you can move characters and weapons yourself unaided by contoller pads - I could see a pretty fun D&D game come out of that...not to mention the workout from sword fighting!

    Digital copies.

Steam for instance. There is a trend that publishers want to release games trough own portals to keep gamers on their servers. Single play games too, meaning a permanent internet connection is needed.

the second thing is that the development of new tech for games like dx11 is not supported by consoles who still use dx9. When a game uses dx9 and not dx11 people ask themselves why bother with the pc version if it does not look better.

On the bright side, I hear Atari has lost the D&D license.
