I wanted to know how Dual-Wielding works in BG2. I know in 3rd edition it just adds one more attack with the off-hand weapon per round, regardless of how many attacks the main hand has, which I don't think is all that useful with all the penalties it adds. But what about BG2?

Same, except the penalties are different.

** in TWF gives a -4 with the offhand weapon, *** gives a -2. These both allow the main-hand to attack without penalty.

Personally, unless you've got a really high STR, or that offhand weapon provides some outside bonus (more than just being a +3 weapon or whatever), you're better off with a shield.

Would you say it was worth it with a good weapon in one hand and Crom Fayr (sp?) in the other?

    Yes.

Other good off-hand weapons (for me anyway):
    Crom Faeyr
The Equalizer (immune to charm and confusion)
Arbane's short sword (free action, haste on user)
Dragonslayer long sword (immune to fear, regenerate, cast detect invisiblity 1/day)

    Others suggestions:
Blackrazor (immune to charm and fear, regenerate, other random goodies)
Kundane short sword (zero speed factor)
    Belm (extra attack)
Adjatha the Drinker long sword (immune to charm and domination, heals 1 hp upon hit)
    Dakkon Zerth's blade (extra spells)

Kundane in the off-hand actually grants an extra attack per round with the main hand weapon(like Belm).
